Fear the Walking Dead - anyone?

I really want to like this show, but I don't like the way it's veering off into this government conspiracy story line. I knew going in it wouldn't be just like the original Walking Dead. With that said, I was hoping for a much longer story line on how this happened, show gradually how everyone deals with it, etc., etc. Almost similar to the movie Contagion.

It started out that way, but now it's turning into an editorial about the government.

Maybe it's just me but it seems we went from the rioting and looting with people all over the place (last week) to a virtually empty city this week. I would have loved to see the process of how the disease progresses. It seems that you saw people with the "flu" the first episode and some walkers to this week and noone? The military obviously figured out that the head shot is what does the walkers in. Would be nice if they educated the general population that if they encountered one, that was the way to deal with them. I just feel there is a lot of missing stuff that they could have taken some time to explore and develop.

I watched. I still don't know about this show. The writing is so bad. BUt at least the end of this episode got interesting. So I'll watch one more episode to see if maybe this show will turn around for me.
Oh come on. There are 2 left for the season, you have to watch both of them. You can't just quit with 1 hanging!:P

I love how everyone was yelling for her to get the gun. She is going to wish she had that later on.

I like Madison, she gets it and unlike her wimpy husband, has the hueves to do things. Maybe he is starting to get it, but he is still enamored of the military and thinks they are actually there to save them. o_O

Also, still really like Ruben. He is smart, knows what's going on and isn't getting sucked into the fake safety of the military. Probably has a lot to do with the upbringing.

Can't believe they took Nick. So mad about that. While his actions disgust me, I think once he really kicks the habit, he could be essential to their group. He is great actor also. He is doing excellent in this role.

Caught the note part, about Susan, but it totally went over my head that it was probably the military in that house, shooting the survivors. Here, I was thinking that maybe it was just the survivors, shooting at walkers.

Next week, looks like we will see some walker action, for those who are waiting for it. I kept thinking Madison was going to run into a walker when she went outside the fence. She didn't even bring the bolt cutter along with her. She had nothing.

I was screaming at the TV when Madison went out the fence...she didnt bring any kind of weapon, even the bolt cutters could be swung at someone.

Who is Reuben?

Reuben is the real life name of the actor who plays the barber. The husband of injured food lady. Reuben Blades is the actor.

I think it's a pretty good depiction of what would happen. Did you see Boston after the Marathon bombing?

I need to watch it again. When was this???

Who is Reuben?
The Hispanic dad, the barber.

Very end of episode. While Travis was on the roof.
I thought he was looking out ans saw the light in the house that Chris had seen? I gotta re-watch it.

It's at the very end when Travis is on the roof. It happens very quick, as Travis sees one or two blinks of light and then the light flashes change to being very rapid in pace - pretty much what gunfire looks like at night.

I would have missed it too if I didn't have the captions on while watching. When he is sitting up on the roof and sees the light, there is distant gunshots and then the light disappears.

Ok, I guess I completely missed the boat on the obvious gunfire in the house at the end where they thought they saw morse code. I assumed that the flashing of lights they saw were all along gun fire and the dad just happened to hear it and realize what it was. I never put two and two together that because he "ratted" on them to the military guy that they went and shot them down. I thought perhaps that the place (it doesn't look like a normal house) was some kind of execution center and that's how they so greatly reduced the population in such a short period of time.

And I don't think there's a hospital. Just not believing it. I'm not sure what it is... but it isn't a place where people can get better, for sure!

I just finished the episode. He was looking at the morse code house. I am pretty sure that was muzzle flash from a gun or guns going off. Now, was it the military killing the occupants, or was it the occupants killing walkers, or even protecting themselves from the military???? I am think it is the first that I mentioned.

I'm curious about the "hospital" too. That's probably the biggest unknown for me right now.

I hope they don't leave us hanging about that.

I think since S2 will be 15 episodes that FTWD won't come back until late spring/early summer 2016. We don't think it will be a partial winter break filler for TWD (ie: 5-6 FTWD episodes in the winter, then remaining FTWD episodes over summer to bring us to the start of S7 TWD)?

Ohhhh, this got me thinking... Could that building be the place they are taking the sick? Saying it is a hospital but really quarantining them there against their will? And the person sending the message was trying to warn the people in the compound, so a soldier shot him/her?
LOL - so many questions.

:offtopic: but sort of on topic.... @Heidict your avi is everything! Swoon
That was back before his greasy, long hair, smelling like a squirrel days. :lovestruc

I think we will be seeing the hospital in the next episode or 2. At least, that is the way it looked in the previews.

At the ends, when whimpy dad is looking at the house and seeing the flashes, you can also hear distant gunfire.

I can never remember his name on the show, so I always just call him Ruben. Wonder if he entertains them during breaks in filming? :mic:

I did, but the authorities didn't gather up everyone with health issues and take them to an undisclosed location. Nor did they shoot down people in the streets. That's what I mean by this show going off track with the government conspiracy plot. I would rather see more about how the disease developed, where it came from, how it spread, etc. Just my opinion, but I think that would have made this a lot more interesting TV series

I don't think it's so much a conspiracy, just reality of what would happen. I'm sure the government would declare martial law in a situation like this. Shooting survivors down in the middle of the street? I don't know, but I could totally see that happening. I understand why they are removing the very sick. They don't want them dying in the safe zone and then spreading the virus.

I would love to know the origin of the virus, who patient zero was, how it all started. They said though that they weren't going to go there.

As far as how the government/military are handling it in general, I think the show is doing a great job. Do I think this is how they would handle it in real life, I sure hope not (shooting uninfected), but who knows :confused3

I do believe if they kept the show to a more "civilized", for lack of thinking of a better word, the show would be boring. I like to be kept on the edge of my seat, not knowing what crazy thing is going to happen next!!!!!
