I've always hated flying and over the years its got worse and worse.

We are hoping to go to Florida next May and it will be the first time we've been with children. My son will be 4yrs and I will also have a 9mth old by then too!!!

DO you think I'm mad taking them?? (I'm desperate for my son to go while he still 'believes' and don't want to have to wait until the little one is older). Do you think by having children with you it makes you cope better or do you worry even more??

I have been 14 times and have always been frightened of flying and always will be, however it doesn't stop me going.

I even booked on a fear of flying course (many years ago) and opted out of the flight I felt so ill.

The good news is though having Joshua to look after does make it easier, no time to think about myself anymore.
So in that respect yes you will find it easier as you have little one's to cater for.
We first took Josh when he was 10 months and he was fine, naturally he was way too young to really appreciate it but there were no problems overall.

Florida is such a great holiday destination I just try and think what a good time we will have, you would be surprised how many of us hate flying but still go so you are not alone that's for sure.

I am very lucky that I have no fear of flying, yet have a fear of heights! (go figure!)

Having the two children with you will take up a lot of the "thinking" time, I take it you 9mo will be in a cot?
Everytime the seat belt sign comes on baby wilkl have to be taken from the cot and held, so again, lots to do to keep you occupied.

Hugs. Its like going to the dentist I am terrified but have to show my kids it's fine. Your not mad wanting to see the magic in their eyes go and enjoy it.

You won't have time to worry looking after 2 kids! Especially as you'll be doing the brave parent act for you DS :goodvibes

Hi Amy

I sympathise with you entirely, I hate it with a passion, and like you the more I go the more frightened I get. The only thing I will say, is that the excitment of going out weighs the fear element.

Plus with the kids, it does take your mind off it a little bit trying to keep them amussed.

Have a great time

Steve

I too have a fear of flying and hights, i dont even drive cos i'm afraid of that as well:rolleyes1

I'm such a wuss! Seriously, if i can do it almost anyone can, you will have so much to do with your kids to keep you occupied on the flight that you prob won't have time to think;) In your own words, "you want to go while your child still believes in the MAGIC" What better reason than that?

No, you're not mad, What better reason to face your fear than to see the pleasure in your sons face. I quite enjoy flying & realise how lucky i am, reading these posts. I think your children will keep you occupied & putting on a brave face for your son will take your mind of it. Go ahead, I'm sure you will have a wonderful time, that will make it worthwhile.
