My daughter would love to do this. When and how do they pick the contestants? We watched a few videos. Is it always the same challenges every show?

Last time we were there, they had a sandwich board poster out front of the building announcing show times & times for people volunteering...they waited in a roped off area out front.

Only watched the show once, don't know if it differs at all, sorry.

One of my sons won and was told he can't apply again for a year because the stunts/challenges are the same. They only change it once a year. Not sure when that "reset" time is though.

Wow, Congratulations to your son! That must have been so much fun for you all! Don't know how he drank that slop though, don't know if I could even watch that let alone drink it!

When my younger brother did it a couple of years back they had 2 types of cast, one is the physical and the other was the grosser stuff, He did the physical acts.

So there are actually 3 "casts" one group does the food challenge, one group does the bug challenge and the other is the physical challenges. The food challenge is usually 4-6 people they make a gross smoothie and the first person to finish it wins. (Son number 2 did that one and won) The bug challenge is 2 people who spin a wheel to see what bug is placed on their head while trhey are strapped in a chair. Who ever makes it through all 3 bugs being placed on their head with out tapping out, wins( Daughter did that one and won) The physical challege part is 3 parts. They start with 6 people doing the first physical challenge and 2 people get eliminated. Then the remaining 4 do another physical challenge and 2 more people get eliminated. The final 2 people go head to head in a big final challenge to crown a winner. (Son number 3 did that one and won)
My kids all auditioned and were chosen for the same show. But they would not let my 2 sons go head to head in the same events. So that is how one ended up with the food and the other the physical challenges.

Do guests just win a t-shirt, or do winners receive anything else?

I did it about 10 years ago the physical challenge. I had to audition and basically sign my life away when they picked me. I got to the final round but lost. It was really fun and my kids thought it was great their mom was competing. I think the winner got 2 universal tickets. I don't know if they do that anymore. I would love to compete this trip but don't think I am in as good of shape as I was 10 years ago.

The only "prize" is a tshirt for the physical challenge! I wish he had won tickets!! LOL The food challenge prize was a cup that says "I ate a bug on Fear Factor". The bug challenge prize was just a picture of my daughter with bugs on her head. So don't go into it for the prizes! LOL

We finally decided to venture over there and it wasn't what I expected. After waiting a while for the show to begin, they didn't use the stage for any of the challenges - said we could come back for the next one if we wanted to see that. (We didn't have time to do that). It was about eating gross stuff and bugs challenges. So, no physical challenges at all. I'm hoping that was just a fluke, as I really thought there would be more to the show than what we saw.

Maybe they didn't get enough volunteers? Or had equipment issues?
