I have been reading on some threads about people who have had there FE stolen or even just the stuff inside the pocket. Does this happen very often?? Has anyone got theirs stolen??

I can't believe people would do that!:headache:

I think I've read maybe 2 reports that someones FE was stolen.

And some magnets have gone astray. Many times the magnets showed up on other doors. Generally, I think it's kids just thinking their being cool.

I've decorated our doors with many magnets (and I mean MANY!) in our last four cruises. 2 of our magnets disappeared. If I wish, I can reprint the pictures that were on those magnets, so I'm still able to enjoy them. Yes, it's disappointing to think that someone else (especially on Disney) would feel that they could just help themselves to our stuff, but it's only a magnet.

We also use a wire wrap to fasten our FE to the holder. As to the stuff disappearing out of the FE, how would you know?

:cutie:

doesn't happen very often. Usually stateroom door mayhem is attributable to bored and unsupervised kids. On the 2011 Panama cruise a couple of teen boys video-recorded themselves vandalizing door displays and put the videos on You Tube. On the Baltic cruise I took in 2010, there were reports that someone had put smashed fruit into a fish extender. If you're worried about the extender itself walking away, use a zip tie to put it up. Make sure you have a way to cut it off when you're getting ready to disembark.

If the items are stolen from the extenders you are not likely to know unless someone asks you "so how did you like the (missing item) I left?"

I, also, have heard a couple of times of FE's being stolen. It has never happened to me. As Princess said, if anything, magnets are stolen. Magnets also have not been stolen from my door either, that's not to say it won't happen!!!

Some magnets could also fall off and get lost or put on the wrong door. I had one that just refused to stick to the front of our door so after about 3 days of picking it up every time we opened the door we put it on the back and it stayed just fine. :confused3

As others have said, a zip tie might deter someone who is just a casual prankster.

For someone who wants to steal just to steal, I think they will get what they want.

If you make your FE and your magnets personalized, there will probably be less likelihood that they will get stolen. Someone might see a neat Mickey magnet and steal it. But if it's a magnet with a picture of Mickey holding a sign that says "Homer Herbenzerger's 1st Cruise" the magnet probably won't get stolen.

I'd say don't worry about things getting stolen, it doesn't seem to happen too often. On the flipside, don't put anything outside that you would be too upset if it went missing.

Common sense advice. My niece left a Coach diaper bag in a stroller in Disneyland and was upset when it was stolen. Who would do such a thing at Disneyland. hullo?

I think the way people found out was bcuz they were chating with there fellow cruisers. You get to meet alot of them on the cruise meets thread.

that sad part is the fish extender goes outside, and its the thing that would make me the most sad if it went missing (i'm sure my kids would be equally sad). People take so much time creating their FEs that it is so sad for someone to steal or ruin them just for fun. I'm buying mine....but still...a $50 FE is not something anyone would want stolen.

I guess I will just have to take my chances.....but it still makes me sad

also, I can tell I'm getting old cus all I can think to myself is "THOSE DARN KIDS !!!!!" :rotfl:

I've seen a number of these sorts of reports with people expressing surprise that someone would steal stuff at a Disney park. It's not like they're all that different. Disney parks are full of people, and there can be bad people in any crowd.

Use a zip tie so it would have to be cut off. As for people taking what is in them you will just have to take your chances. We did not use a "traditional" FE design. I used a small tote bag that I decorated so it was hard to tell if there was even anything in it. Just check it often.

My friend had her FE stolen on the Vancouver -> Los Angeles cruise. She didn't have names on the pockets or top. She was very disappointed. :sad2:

We always secure our FE and it does have our names.

We had along with numerous other cabins had our magnets stolen in the middle of the night on the Magic last October. :scared1: We suspected kids running around unsupervised. We had numerous cabins all at the same time complain to guest services. I suspect the kids do not know that DCL has a lot of cameras on the ship. Well at dinner several CMs handed us our magnets along with all the other affected guests but gave us no explanation of what happened. I would guess the guests who stole the magnets are now on the not invited back list with DCL.

Good for you!!! I am glad to hear everyone got thier stuff back:goodvibes:goodvibes

I would be more worried about what teens would be putting INTO the pouches as opposed to what they might take out......

ours will be personalized so I am hoping that will prevent it from being damaged. But if they are foing it as a prank I have a feeling it wont help much......:sad1:

Wow. I never thought about the actual FE being stolen. Ours is in the process of being made and it will be personalized. I mean, really, who will run off with an FE with the name "Klusmeier" on it? Not a very popular name!

I had a FE gift stolen outside of my door on the Dream. They were nice big Nightmare Before Christmas plushes and I only knew because I ran into the gifter later who asked me if I had received the gift and I said I hadn't.

We've never had our FE stolen because we tie it to the fish with twine, but have had it used as a trash dump many times. However, on our October 2009 cruise we had our whole door wiped clean of magnets in one fell swoop -- within a 15 minute period. When my daughter left to get breakfast, they were there. When she returned with breakfast, they were all gone. She thought we had packed them! :sad2:
