How would you feel if you got a pin in your FE?

I am not crafty at all, so I was thinking I could get some pins off ebay (making sure they were trade-able, put a little candy in a clear bag with some stickers.

I would make is gender linked, like mickey for boys, minnie for girls, etc.

Thoughts? Be honest... :)

That would be a great gift. I know finding any thing in my FE made me happy.:)
I say go for it.

My boys got pins on our last cruise. They were not 'gender specific' and we intended to be traded (that's what the note with them said). They kept a few and traded the princesses! I don't even think there was candy involved, they just enjoyed the trading process.

I say you should go for it!

I think it is a great idea. On our first cruise, I bought some "cheap" lanyards, solid colored, not Disney themed, and put a few pins and an explanation of pin trading and gave them to each kid. I saw some of the kids trading later in the cruise! :-)

I think it would be a nice idea as well. I don't know how the teenage boys would feel though. Might be a bit too young for them...:confused3

It is a great idea. There is NO great gift for teens....but this is as close to "one size fits all" as you can get.

Teens who dont appreciate the FE are just trying to not have fun on their cruise. :rotfl: I am 17 and have done the FE since I was 13 and have loved doing it more than my family everytime. I am truely greatful for all the gifts I receive. This trip I am even more excited to be doing the FE, and planning it.

To the OP- I absolutely love pin trading, and have collected for awhile. I think its a great idea!! As an idea....they have disney lanyards for 99 cents at party city, they have cars, mickey m, princess, and many others that you could always put in there too, for the kids that dont have lanyards will have something to use. There is a specific pin trading night I know for sure on the Magic and Wonder and I assume they have on the Dream and Fantasy?
So YESS! to the pin ideas. :goodvibes

I think it is a great idea, for all ages. My three year olds would love it and so would I, and I am 43! Also, I have tween and teenage neices and nephews who are very much all into the trading pins, if that helps.

p.s. I sure candy is always a hit!

Sounds perfect

This is perfect - wish I would have thought of it. I would recommend delievering this type of gift as early in the cruise as possible so they can enjoy it.

Thanks for the suggestion - can't wait to check it out - the lanyards would be great for the adults as well. You could also add a card holder to the lanyard for their KTTW card.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read this thread BEFORE buyings pins off eBay! More than likely you will end up with a lot of unauthorized Disney pins being made and sold illegally. Last year there were some people in California arrested for importing these types of pins for resale. Disney is trying to stop this practice, but it is a long road and process.

Again, the idea is wonderful, but please read this FIRST!

I actually gave trading pins as FE gifts on our cruise two weeks ago. I did them for all the kids about age 5 and over. I didn't make them completely gender specific, though I tried a little bit. I attached them to business-size cards that read, "Welcome to Disney pin trading! Have fun!" I thought they were nice gifts.

not to sound like a noobe what does FE stand for?:confused3

Great idea. I may steal it!

I also like the idea of attaching the pin to a card explaining pin trading for those who are unfamiliar with the practice, and delivering it early enough in the cruise that those who might want to trade it during one of the pin trading nights would be able to do so.

FE stands for Fish Extender. It's cool pocket do dads that you hang on the fish outside your state room. Keep digging around the site.. that's what I did. They are way cool.

It stands for Fish Extender. There is a "fish" outside the door which is used to put written information in for you, such as reminders of invitations or appointments. You can do a search to find pictures :)

It provides additional space for your friends to put gifts.

Thank you all so much!

I had no idea the Party city had them!!! Totally excited now! :cool1:

FE=Fish Extender. Look up your cruise on the Cruise Meets and see if your group is doing it. You leave small gifts for the cabins that are participating in a pocket hanging from the fish that is next to your door.

I would like to receive that gift. Getting any gift is fun.

I think it's a terrific idea! We got a lot of fun stuff on our last cruise, but no pins, so I think it's a pretty novel idea as well.

On our last cruise we got a real variety of FE gifts, from beautiful hand crafted photo frames to some interesting items that represented the gift giver's hometown (nothing elaborate; just postcards, magnets, candy, etc.) to the little plastic party store / Oriental trading type goodie bag trinkets. While we appreciated all the gifts, the ones from the first two categories were most appreciated because they had relativity to the cruise and/or our FE group - the trinkets didn't generate much interest and didn't make it home. I think your pins are right on target with having some connection to the cruise itself, which most people love!
