FD question. Newbie

Hi everyone. First time poster LONG time lurker. I used these boards when we went to WDW 5 years ago and now FINALLY going back.

There are 5 of us now so we booked a room at POR for Nov 25th through Dec 3rd of this year. We got a PIN code for 15-20% off room only discount and decided on QSDP. I asked when we made our reservations if they came out with FD while we were there if I could change and she sad yes. However, here is my question... If they come out with FD, can I get a free QSDP or do I have to use regular DDP? We did the character dining last time and felt like it took A LOT of time out of our park experience so we thought the QSDP would be better for us.

We probably wont use the TS credits for TS meals so it would be a total waste. I have heard that most QS places with let you use TS credit for a QS meal but I worry that that could be touch and go? Also, if I were to get free QSDP at a mod, is it a bigger savings than the 15-20% discount? Sorry for so many questions just so confused. (Can't believe I am even worried about this 8 months before we go and don't even know if FD will be offered.)

I'm pretty sure Mod's get the regular DP free, not the QSDP.

You can always use a TS credit for QS. It will never be a problem to my knowledge.

TS dining can take up some time. If you are that concerned about it, schedule a TS breakfast an hour before the park opens, that way you don't waste park time.

Or do a buffet. We were in and out of Crystal palace for lunch in an hour, maybe less, even saw all the characters too.

For us, the TS gives us a chance to sit and relax, which during the spring/summer is well needed IMO.

Our next trip we are going in December so the heat won't be as bad but we are still doing DxDP. The sitting and relaxing.... ahhhh

You can't get free QSDP at a moderate on the current offer - you'd get free regular dining and you can't downgrade it. However, since youd be getting it free you can use the TS credits for QS dining and it will be the same as having the QS plan with no waste. The Dining Plan brochures that Disney put out this year say specifically that you can use TS credits for QS meals.

If there is a new offer that covers Nov. and Dec. dates there's no way to know right now what the free plan will be for moderates.

It all depends on the free dining offer. The pin I received via email for this Spring had free dining quick service with mods and regular with deluxe. The public offer out for the fall is qs for value and regular for mod and deluxe. I would think that even if you use the your reg dining as quick service, you would likely save more than 15%. Not positive though. You'd have to price it out.
