Hello.....If someone could answer a few questions it would be greatly appreciated. When do you fax for a request before you go?.......i.e.24 hours? What has been your experience with faxing the resort for example....you want to stay in a certain area of your resort!.......Thanks Bob

I usually do the request about 2 days before my arrival. As for my experience, it all depends on the resort. FW, CSR, WL have been very good. POR is the one I always have to remind them. Make sure your request is noted on your resv and then when you check in reiterate it again.

If I am not mistaken, I thought they did away with faxed room requests. I heard (can't remember where!) that you have to mention your room request while booking!

Just a heads up... not sure how right I am though!

I believe that is being done on a resort-by-resort basis. Info was posted here a couple of months ago stating that a couple resorts would no longer accept faxed room requests after a certain date. The reason being that their room assigners now receive mounds of faxes now that the "secret" of making requests via fax has become common place thanks to the internet. They now request that you make your room wishes known on your reservation. I'll have to do some digging, but I seem to recall that WL was one of the resort mentioned in the post.

Yeah, I heard somewhere recently that they don't like you faxing them anymore. We faxed our room request to POR last May about 5 days before we left. We got what we asked for, but I cant be sure if it was because of my request. Really, what harm can come from faxing them right before you go, are they going to put you on a "bad guest" list:rolleyes:

I found the thread in question: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=481608
ALL EARS™ ticket guru, JackM, reports: Effective immediately, Wilderness Lodge will no longer accept faxed in room requests. All room requests must be added to your reservation by the Disney Reservation Center (WDTC and/or CRO) at least 10 days prior to your arrival at WL. Faxes may be sent to DRC at 407-939-3463 or they may be called in to 407-WDISNEY.

The official Disney policy on room preferences has always been that they need to be added directly to the reservation by DRC and contact with the resort was discouraged. In the past, that policy has not been strictly adhered to as the volume of the faxes received by the resort has been manageable. WL made this decision based on several factors, which included the increase in the number of faxes received and the adverse reaction upon resort arrival of many people who could not have their room requests granted. Currently, each resort is free to adopt this policy or not as they see fit. Do not be surprised if other Disney resorts soon join WL and the DVC resorts in not accepting faxed room requests.

If you click the fax number link at the bottom of the thread that GoldenOldie provided, it shows that WL, BWI, and any DVC property (OKW, VWL, BWV, and BCV) do not accept faxed requests.
