For those of you who fax room requests to the hotel front desk prior to your arrival, how far in advance do you send the fax?

It's normally not necessary to fax in a request if you have your request noted on your reservation when you make the reservation.

For request fullfillment, the reservations are ordered by date that they were made, oldest first; within that, requests for medical reasons and smoking preference take priority and then all other requests.

If you do decide to fax, you should fax no more than 4 or so days prior to your arrival date. Your reservation doesn't appear in the resort computer system until about 4 days prior, and it's only then that room assignments start to happen.

I like to send a fax confirming my requests and listing some alternates. For example, my original request says second floor, but in my fax I will say first floor is OK if second is not available, but not handicapped. Or if Turtle Pond is not available, my next choice would be South Point. Gives them some alternates if the original was not available, rather than just assigning you anything. I usually fax mine 4 or 5 days before.

I did note my room request with MS when making my initial reservation. It's good to know that they are ranked by earliest request.

That's a great suggestion about offering alternate room requests. I'm glad to hear 4-days-out is a good time to fax. We are spending 3 days at VB followed by a week at WLV. This way I can fax both requests before we leave for Florida.

Only your first two requests will appear on your reservation paper, but I have been repeatedly told by member services that other requests show up on the computer but are not printed out. Anyone have any thought on this? Are the other requests actually considered seriously?

Last time I faxed by request (first time I tried this) I got just what I wanted - so I am faxing from now on. I always put in my request when I make my reservations at the 11 th month, but this is the first time in a very, very long time that I got exactly what I wanted. Even the building!!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to make our wishes come true. We are looking forward to coming home again for our special vacation. We are always treated like family when we are in Disney. Personally I've never felt the need to fax my reservation info ahead - at least not to OKW. I almost always get what I requested. I think the front desk CMs do a great job!
