Faxing Room Requests - Myth or Magical

We stayed at POR last year, we got a very good discount and I faxed our request. I explained it was out 5 year anniversary and that we would like to stay in Oak Manor because the mansions were very romantic looking and that we would prefer a king bed. (This was also stated in our reservation.)
The only request we got was a mansion room in Parterre Place WAY out in the boonies. It felt like a 5 mile hike to get anywhere!! Our anniversary was not acknowleged (not that I really expected anything, but it would have been nice) and we were told that there we no king beds left in the resort.
I kind of felt like because we got such a good discount that they were unwilling to give us more. It could have been also that we were there in late May a busier time and we were used to going in September. Everytime we have been at the value resorts they have made every effort to get us a king bed and one time didn't even charge us for it.
So faxing didn't work for us. We are however going to try POR again when we go later this year. I might even try faxing again!

like others said here don't let your fun vacation ride on the request. a few years ago i didn't get any of my requests and i got upset and ruined the first couple days of my vacation for myself befora i realized how supid i waslet it go and had a wounderful time the rest of the trip
