Fax the room assigner or call?

Our last trip was 2 years ago. My brother is headed in 2 weeks. I was telling him about faxing the room assigner. Is that still what to do? Or should you call?

If they made their ressie thru AAA travel, does their agent need to call?????

Personally unless it's to discuss a medical need for a specific location or something along those lines, I don't like the idea of calling the room controller. I think it's disruptive to their day. I prefer the idea of faxing. You can fax room requests, you don't need the agent to do so, although that's what they get paid to do.

Keep in mind that room requests are just that. Requests. Make sure to list things in the most important order. The more things you list the less likely you are to get what you want. It's best to list one or two, maybe three things.

If you get to your resort and really are disappointed with your room, you can always talk to guest services about moving rooms should something more to your desires open.

Fax, don't call. For one thing, you don't know exactly when they are going to block your room, so calling won't do much good other than to have them write down your request and stick it in a file to be processed with your room... which is what happens to your fax. So why take a chance on someone mis-transcribing your phone request when you can submit your request in your own words via fax. And yes, you can do it... your AAA agent doesn't have to be the one to submit it.

Personally I think you do just as well if not better if you just ask nicely when you check in. We have had the Disney Magic work for us several times at check in. They will do a lot to make sure you have a great stay.

We don't do either. I either make my room requests at the time I make my reservation or if I'm not sure what we want/need at the time I make the reservation, I just call CRO sometime before we arrive and have them add it to the reservation.

I guess I don't see the reason for the faxes. I make my requests at the time I make my reservation and I speak to the CM at Check-in. But I also don't ask for a lot, usually just non-smoking (and the Bayou if I'm at POR). When I check in if it's a taller building I always ask for a room as high up as I can get it (I do this at every hotel I stay at).

Better off faxing the request if there's a particular part of the resort you'd prefer to stay in.

We had met up with 2 other families at the FW cabins and I faxed a request for us to be in the same loop as close together as they could "if possible". The room assigner not only called me but faxed me with the cabin numbers. That was definitely going above and beyond his call of duty.

You can make requests when you make your reservations, but it might be good to follow up with a fax to confirm this (sometimes the requests may not get noted).
