Edited to say: George Strait is DA MAN!!!

country-based alternative folk rock

I also like other genres but the above is like my bread and butter

Think I'll look this guy up - sounds like my kinda music! :)

Wow! The boards are moving fast today - this was already on pg 3!

Country. Grew up listening to it, and can barely stand what most of my friends listen too. Thankfully some of them like country too, so I don't always have to hide it. When I'm driving if there are no good country songs on any of the 3 area stations, then I'll sometimes tolerate oldies. Another one I grew up listening too. The only genre I truly can't stand is elevator/dentist office music.

Can't stand that either. I remember listening to this one God-awful song at the dentist's that I could've sworn lasted 30 minutes. But that might've been the nitrous oxide.

Oh, you must. The stuff is to die for. I'm making my 3rd trip to go see him in concert -- can't wait! The eskimofriends link in my sig has some good samples. Some of it is very mellow, but in concert he really can "rock." You're lucky to get a ticket to a show in the UK, and US shows are even starting to sell out well ahead of time. I'm trying to catch him as much as I can before he starts playing large venues.

Wait -- you're from the UK. You haven't heard of him??

I love all kinds, but my favorite would be popular music of the 30's, 40's, and early 50's (Ella, Frank, Jo Stafford, Mel Torme, Doris Day, etc.). :cool1: And with XM, I am thankfully able to listen to most any kind of music whenever I want! :teeth:

Hmmm, I should of had an "oldies" option too as I quite like the odd one or two myself! :D

I listen to music everyday - love most genres - primarily Rock and Folk.

Oh yeah, I forgot that (although I've always liked it) I've just got to REALLY like Country/US Folk Music - there are a lot of (historical) cross overs between UK and US folk music.

Rock fans play air guitar - as a 'folkie' I play 'air accordion'! :rolleyes
