Well, I asked about the other parks so I might as well ask about MGM. What is your favourite attraction there? I remember really liking the Backlot Tour? Does anyone know if the Golden Girls house is still there? I suspect that they have taken it away.

P.S. Does anyone know why and when they changed the name from MGM Studios to Disney Studios?

My fave is Tower of Terror. I love it and could ride it over and over again =)

I only went on the backlot tour once, and it was several years ago, and the Golden Girls house was still there. I remember walking through back there during the Osbourne lights last year and I think it was still there, but I could be wrong.

Rockin Roller Coaster. It's a favorite in my whole family.

I have 2 favs for two different reasons. First is RNR because it was the first roller coaster I ever rode in. Next is Voyage of the Little Mermaid, because with twin daughters, the scene where Triton says, "how much I'm going to miss her" really tugs at the heartstrings.

Tower of Terror for me with Beauty and the Beast a very close second.

As for the Backlot Tour, the Golden Girls' House as well as the rest of the residential street was torn down lat year to make room for a new stunt show. I believe it's opening next year.

Tower of Terror is the best! Incredible theming and attention to detail. It's more than a ride, it is the most amazing attraction anywhere!

I enjoy The Great Movie Ride the most, even waiting in line and seeing all the exhibits and movie clips was awesome.

I have to vote R n R Coaster but people tell me Im biased and I worked there :)

As for the name change its not "official" yet (but its on all their promotional videos- as there is a clause that they cant use MGM anymore in them) but the disney mgm deal is only valid till June 05 (It was signed as a 20 year deal in 85) and with the terms of the agreement I would bet that theyd wont renew the license, especially as the only thing thats really MGM is the Great Movie Ride and half of the ride is not under the basic license but speciality license (Wizard of Oz for one)- And you wonder why the new icon was built right in front of the GMR? There is a license for the Chinese Theatre but I dont remember the terms of that one or whats the current status on it.

Disney needed MGMs help when the built the park but have since found their feet and dont need the help anymore- I wish that they'd change the GMR into a disney emphasised ride as Disney has some rich film heritage if they choose to acknowedge it.

I know when I was there we were told to refer to it as Studios instead of MGM- I dont know if they still emphasis it but I would assume times will be changing :)

I really like most everything at MGM. Love he Great Movie Ride, Animation Studio, Star Tours, Muppet Vision, Backlot (closed now), RNR, Streetmosphere characters, Sounds Dangerous, and most especially FANTASMIC!!

Hmm...it's a toss up between Muppet 3-D and Star Tours both representing childhood and adolescent obsessions. (Who am I kidding, I have a living room full of Star Wars books and action figures and a Master bedroom full of Muppet plush) I do love RNR coaster too, but don't have the same emotional ties to it.

Tower of Terror! followed by fantasmic

1. Fantasmic
2. Beauty and the Beast
3. TOT
4. Millionaire

:D

I'm biased on this question. My favorite is Star Tours but I think it definitely needs a change of some kind. My next pick would probably be Rock 'N' Roller Coaster.

Fantasmic was my favorite part of our most recent visits to MGM. But, of the rides/shows, I would have to pick Star Tours.

From what I've read, the backlot tour closing is temporary, to allow the construction vehicles access to the site of the new Motor Stunt Show. Rumor has it that once the show is up and running, the backlot tour vehicles will run THROUGH the stunt show arena when the stunt show isn't running, and will go around it during the shows.

I loved the backlot tour because last time, my girlfriend and I got chosen to be the "extras" in the water tank scene. It was a blast, and one of our most memorable moments of the trip. If you have the opportunity to volunteer, do it! :)

Oh, and my favorite attraction at MGM? Rock 'n Roller Coaster. I could ride it all day long without getting tired of it. Even if you're coaster-shy, consider giving it a try-- you might love it!

Definitely the Rockin Rollercoaster! Having Aerosmith in the build up just doubles the pleasure for me.....

I really enjoyed the Indiana Jones Stunt Show as well.
