Favourite American Junk Foods

Twinkies! Nothing natural in these babies, synthetic cream filling a spongy outer.
There's a joke in Wall-E about one of these lasting through the last days of man on earth. I believe they would too!

Kev

An American friend told me about these a couple of years back, still haven't tried them.

I sometimes pick up Peanut Brittle.
Lays, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, Peanut M&M's

This next trip is on DDP so it will be Goofy candy, Graham crackers, Cinnamon rolls at Main st Bakery & carrot cake cookie... loads more.:cloud9:

Oh my, how did I forget Krispy Kremes

I'm not really much of a sweets or snack eater at home and, in fact, there are some things I'm about to mention that I wouldn't touch with a barge-pole these days, but I have enjoyed them in the past! (And there are some which are still guilty pleasures when I'm on holiday :rotfl:).

Cheetos Crunchy (the skinny, knobbly ones which are more like Nik Naks than Wotsits)

Twinkies. So wrong, yet so right! (Actually, I haven't had one for years, but could probably have my arm twisted.)

Corn Dogs. I don't think I could force myself to eat one, but my girls loved them when they were kids.

Oreos. You can get the regular and double stuff quite easily here, but they have some pretty wild varieties out there.

Need to get my tea now. Back with more later!

Various M&Ms with the dark and the peanut butter being the favs.

Cherry Pepsi, cherry Dr Pepper and mountain dew.

Leys crisps.

Milkyways like our mars bars but better, DH loves the Dark choc ones and I love the Milk choc ones.

Oreos mint and choc dipped

Nutter Butters OMG they are so good.

Cookie dough in the tubs and herseys choc bars.

Herseys milk drinks.

Everything Reece's (jar of peanut butter, peanut butter cups, cereal, snack bars) its just so yummy!
Pop tarts (so many more flavours than the uk- cinnamon my fave, choc chip cookie my sons)
Marshmallow fluff (v sickly, but If you add it to 2 slices of bread with a good spreading of peanut butter, you have yourself a fluffer-nutter sandwich!)
Hersey peanut butter brownies
Goober peanut butter and strawberry jelly/jam (all stripy in one jar- are you seeing the peanut butter theme?!)
As stated above cheetos and th cheesy fish!
The Amerians are do know how to snack!!

Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop Tarts! :cheer2:

Smucker's Grape Jelly! I bought 3 jars and the CM in POFQ thought it was insane when I told her we couldn't buy this in UK! British Strawberry Jam just doesn't taste the same with peanut butter

Just seen the pic of the corn dog above. Ds14 was really eager to try one. One bite and he was not impressed! Sweet coating like a donut with a savoury sausage inside! Doubt he will be trying one thus trip!

I have a question - we're going in October and won't be hiring a car. So, if I want to buy some of these yummy snacks and take them home, do the resort hotels sell things like Lucky Charms?
xx

take the Lynx Bus #56 from TTC to Walmart, that's what we're going to do

***********

My favourite junk:

*Anything with peanut butter but I will be bringing home a bag of Reese's mini peanut butter cups and a massive bag of Reese's Pieces. Probably a few Peanut Butter Twix as well

*Goldfish crackers for the kids I look after and myself, I'm hoping to pick up a few different flavours this time like the graham goldfish and colourful godlfish

*Nutter Butter

*Hershey's Symphony bar

*Rold Gold's Wholegrain Pretzel, these aren't too junky though

*Lucky Charms cereal, I do wonder where in the house I can hide them so the kids don't find them as they can't go in the cereal cupboard

*Betty Crocker/Duncan Hines cake mixes, so much cheaper and so many great flavours

*Jell-o Puddings and Jelly

*100 calorie packs of microwave popcorn

*Jelly belly beans, cheaper than here

*Lindt truffles from the Lindt store in the mall, so many great flavours available!

It's no wonder I gained half a stone I was over there last time ;-) [it did include a 7 day cruise though *ha*]

you can also go to Publix by the lynx 56...get off at Old Town cross the road and you will see a row of shops, one of them is the Harley Davidson store and behind these out of view is the Publix supermarket...:)

how long does the journey take? We might need to go shopping on our first night but the bus takes almost an hour to get to walmart (according to timetable)

Have you thought about getting some groceries delivered to your resort?

I knew I shouldn't have read about everyone's guilty pleasures - now there's loads more stuff on my list that I didn't know existed (peanut butter Twix, cookie dough Pop Tarts, Coconut M&M's, Lindt truffles, I can't believe I've missed a Lindt store - on the other hand I do vaguely remember buying some peanut butter ones in 2009 so maybe it just didn't occur to me to actually bring some home!)

I also love buying home type magzines (I bought some great Halloween and Christmas ones full of craft and baking ideas last time) - now I need to brng back some of the ingredients so that I can actually make the recipies!

Shouldn't have read this before lunch, so hungry! But I love:

- Wild Cherry Pepsi
- Froot Loops (or even the cheaper Walmart version, Fruit Spins!)
- Lays or Ruffles (crisps)
- Chips Ahoy cookies
- Nerds (you can get them here but in Walmart they $1 for a big box!)

Also I love the fact that everything comes in bigger sizes. I usually come home with a massive bag of M&Ms which is 10 times bigger than the largest you can get over here.

American stuck in Britain for the last 10 years here! We just got back for 3 weeks in central Florida and i managed to gain 2 STONE! (massive shocked face) hoping some of it is water weight.... but i had to chime in with my favorites

Ruffles chips
Helluva bacon and horseradish dip
little debbie oatmeal cream pies
cheddar cheese combos
fanta grape soda and peach soda
anything the keebler elves make
and at this time of year girl scout cookies.
at christmas it has got to be egg nog.
my husband who is all brit loves ruffles and ding dongs.
my oldest loves rootbeer and cheetos.
the little ones love gold fish and teddy ghrams and publix cake.

Butter fingers

my shopping list is expanding [as will my waistline]

wish I was in the States right now to buy all the Easter candy, like Reeses eggs and pastel coloured Reeses Pieces
