Favorite/Worst Resort

Favorite: whichever resort I am currently staying at.
Worst: whichever resort I am currently checking out of.

You would make a great politician. There is an election coming up this fall......:thumbsup2 :)

Favorite: Beach Club; I love the atmosphere. It really has a vacation feel to it.

Least favorite: SSR; it was just too big and didn't give my family much of a Disney vibe. Just OHO! I know others love it for the calmness. Different strokes and all that...

I would have said AKV but it is the only place in Florida I have been bitten by mosquitos and of course blame the animals so will plummet for all of them.

The easy answer would be that my favorite DVC resort is the one I'm staying at....:goodvibes

We have stayed at all of the WDW DVC's with the exception of BCV..... It's hard to rank order them in order of preference because each has its own personality. Keep in mind that the difference between #1 and #5 (can't comment on BCV) is minimal in terms of ranking:

  1. SSR - our first DVC "home" so that might factor into its higher ranking. We love the laid-back, upscale atmosphere. Disney service and quality without the hectic vybe that can sometimes be found at the hotel DVC's. Love the proximity to DTD, the AP, Turf Club, and the main and quiet pools.
  2. AKV - we also own here (hmmm, I see a pattern developing). There is total fantasy escapism at work here. Love the animals, the decor, the restaurants. Can't wait for the new area to open next year! Concierge service for DVC member is a plus.
  3. VWL - A magnificent resort! Truly awe inspiring! We enjoy the boat to MK, walking path to Ft. Wilderness, Roaring Forks...found the main pool way too crowded all the time, quiet pool was great.
  4. BWV - the proximity to Epcot and DS is fantastic (should I say Fantasmic?). The Boardwalk itself is fun, especially at night. Also a very classy resort.
  5. OKW - Our least favorite, but, again, not by much. Olivia's was very good. Secluded feel, for sure. Large rooms, but we found ourselves wishing for a couch in our studio rather than the 2nd bed.
:smickey:

Our favorites are SSR and BWV. We own at both, if we can only keep one, it would be SSR. We find it to be a peaceful yet romantic retreat, a place we could stay and explore for weeks on end without ever having to go to park.:goodvibes

So far we have stayed at SSR and BWV....we are trying OKW and BCV next month. I honestly don't think I will ever say there is a DVC resort that I dislike. I could stay at any of them and have a nice vacation....

As we continue to stay at all of them...I am sure there will be ones that we like better for different reasons but probably due to when we visit them. Maybe we prefer BCV in summer months, maybe we will prefer VWL in colder months. I think they all are unique and special and I am proud to be a member and I hope we get to try them all. Just being a member of DVC IS A DREAM COME TRUE FOR ME....where ever we stay.

VWL - love the themeing

BWV - home for us, so it has a lot of great memories attached to it. Love the walk to Epcot. Love how well the Villas are integrated into the hotel. Love the standard view/boardwalk view booking preferences.

VAKL - animals outside the room, how cool is that? Hate the decor though, and don't like the room layout. But animals outside the room....

BCV - don't like the couch or the pool - but it has that walk to Epcot thing going - and now that my kids are older the pool is somewhat less terror inducing.

OKW - big rooms, great value - dislike the bus traffic on the roads - the buses are loud and the deisel gives me a migraine.

SSR - middle of no where, hate the decor, dislike DTD, and think the six mile hike to the theme pool from the outer buildings is ridiculous (did I exaggerate enough so everyone recognizes it isn't really six miles?). The public spaces are beautiful, though, and the pool is great.

Favorites:
WLV, OKW, BC, AKV & BWV because the build quality of these resorts are excellent, built with pride and not cheap looking, they are just right size(the resort) very well themed/designed, and am proud to call them DVC resorts @ WDW.

Least Favorite: SSR
I felt I was (&the kids) gonna be run over by a bus or some cars when I am walking there. It is just too big with so many outsiders walking in & out. Build quality is just the opposite of my favorite resorts. Does not qualify as a DVC resort ( just my personal opinion of course). Some people like/prefer SSR due to their own personal reasons too I understand.

Favorites (in no particular order) are BCV, BWV, VWL and AKV.

Least favorite: SSR

It's so subjective and such a personal opinion thing...

Here's mine, FWIW:

#1. BCV - location, atmosphere, decor, SAB
#2. SSR - beautiful grounds, decor, location, dining
#3. Tie between Boardwalk - location, themeing
and OKW - beautiful grounds, room size, balcony size

We have not yet stayed at AKV or VB, though we hope to get to both soon.

We have no overwhelming desire to stay at HHI (mainly because it's located in a hard place for us to get to), or VWL (mainly because, while it is absolutely gorgeous and the theme is spot-on, we live in the northwest and don't want to feel like we're at home when we're on vacation!)

only stayed at SSR and AKL
SSR is our home resort were very unluck to have got a studio miles away from everything so even to get to the main pool we had a 10min walk or just ended up driving there
will give it another try some day
loved AKL but just for a day or 2 at a time
stayed at BC but are going to stay at the villas for the first time this Oct and WLV

My favorite is Hilton Head. Love the CM's and the southern charm. We love the grills so close together, for we grill a lot on trips except for when we go to Disney then we usually choose the dining plan. Although I do not know about this year with the changes and my son turning 10.

Least liked is Vero. Don't get me wrong the view is beautiful but there are three grills in the whole resort. You have to go under a tunnel, cart your food charcoal etc. By the time you get to your room the food is cold because it is such a distance. It just is hard for grillers that want to save a little money and bring there own food.

Favorites: BCV and SSR - depends on what type of vacation we are looking for!

Least Favorite - VWL (sorry to everyone who loves it!). We just don't love the location or the theming or the small, crowded pools.

Asking for "worst resort" is kind of a loaded question. I've stayed at all of the WDW resorts and I do like them all. Just because I have resorts I prefer to stay at doesn't mean I find anything objectionable about the others. But I'll play along.

We usually prefer to stay at (1 - VWL (home resort and have loved it from the moment we first saw it), (2 - AKV (we are "animal" people and this resort is uniquely spectacular in that respect), & (3 - OKW (spacious accomodations with lots of nice views).

But occasionally we will stay at (4 - BCV (easy walk to/from Epcot), (5 - SSR (convenient to DTD and a genine neighborhood atmosphere), or (6 - BWV (BW views and easy access to the Studios & Epcot).

Regardless of where we actually end up staying, we still manage to have a delightful time. And quite honestly if I were to call and request reservations and was told by MS that only Resort XYZZY is available, I would go for it without any hesitation at all.

We haven't stayed at them all, but have visited them.

My favorites in declining order are:

OKW -our home resort; love the atmosphere, the size of the units, and the way you can pull your car right up to the unit

VWL - I love the atmosphere at this resort, the launch to the MK, the main pool and the quiet pool. Don't like schleping groceries from the parking lot.

HHI - love the atmosphere, the Beach House, walking to the restaurants at Shelter Cove. It's on a wonderful Island.

BC - we haven't stayed here, but I think I would like the location, the atmosphere, SAB, walking to the Boardwalk.

SSR - location was nice; ability to walk to DTD was nice; liked parking right in front of the building

BWV - I don't like the distance of your parked car to the unit, or the long hallways. I also didn't like the balconies. I do like the location and all the activites on the boardwalk.

AKL - we haven't stayed here but have eaten here a few times and walked around. No offense, but I just don't get the attraction people have to this resort. The lobby is pretty.

Vero

My list is very close to this!

OKW is my favorite! I like the bigger units, the parking, the pool. Yes, it is our home resort. We are going there on our next WDW trip to stay in a Grand Villa with family.

BCV is second because of location. We tend to be an EPCOT family, even my 8 and 10 yr old daughters! Also, the pool is one of the best for extras. It's our second home resort. We added to our points here.

BWV has a great pool / slide also. We only stayed there one night before our last cruise. We enjoyed the boardwalk.. and easy access to the Beach Club for Beaches and Cream.

VWL is really nice, but a bit off the beaten path. If I'm not staying in walking distance, I'll take OKW.

HH is our driving stop. We plan to make a longer stay sometime. I like the beach. I like the resort. Our first time staying there, we looked out in the morning and saw a dolphin swimming in the inlet next to the building!

I would love to stay at AKL at least once to enjoy the animals (instead of having to stand in line for the safari tour!) But we didn't want to buy there.

SSR and VB are not likely to be destinations for us.

Favorite to Least Favorite

#1. VWL-we just knew it was home the minute we walked in. Location (MK area), part of a full-service resort, theming, pool, Roaring Forks, atmosphere, can't beat it for Christmas

#2. BCV-this is where I would add-on in a heartbeat. Location (walk to EPCOT), gelato!, SAB, part of a full-service resort, just has a great "summer" feel to it

#3 & #4 Tie between OKW and BVW. If they were the only resorts available, I'd probably choose BWV.

OKW-Pluses: quieter, larger accommodations. Minuses: not a full-service resort, the neighborhood feel doesn't jazz me, no elevators, location, don't care for the separate buildings, all bus service.

BWV-Pluses: location (walk to EPCOT), full-service resort. I really didn't care for the feel or atmosphere of BWV, access to the shops and restaurants is a pain, long hallways.

#5. AKLV-Pluses: great atmosphere/theming, savanna views rock, nice restaurants, full-service resort. Minuses: Service is AWFUL, from the front desk to the bell-hops. Restaurant service was okay. Too far removed from everything, all bus service. Because of the service, I would not stay here again, even though the rooms and resort are very nice.

I have not stayed at SSR, HH, or VB, so I can't really comment on those. I am aiming to try them all!

Favorite .... so far: Wilderness Lodge

Least Favorite .... so far: Animal Kingdom Lodge (we'll go back for the new section to see it's better but not to the current section)
