Favorite Wetsern Caribbean Excursions

None yet, but dying to try those Dune Buggies in Cozumel.

We booked Captain Dexter in Cayman on our own - kids did not dig the stingrays - were scared to death.....Paradise beach in Cozumel was AWESOME....we did that on our own - that was our favorite day! There is also a fantastic restaurant in Cayman - The Treehouse...right on the beach....good food ...close to the boat...

We booked a private sailboat charter in Grand Cayman using a company called Red Baron. They took us to a "private" viewing place for stingrays where we got to snorkel with about 15 of these lovely creatures... no I didn't go in but some of the family did. We then went to a quiet reef and snorkeled and I did do that.

In Cozumel we did the Disney Jeep Tour and had an amazing time. This is not to be missed!

In Key West, we did a walking tour on our own and found many interesting sites.

Have fun deciding.

We did The Southern Most Treasure Hunt in Key West...lots of fun. The Capt. Marvin's half day snorkle/sting ray city trip. Had a WONDERFUL time, bought the video! In Cosumel we used a local boat owner for a private dive/snorkle dive. They are called Eagle Ray. The boat is NOT fancy, but the trip was The Best. Our two guides were great. We stopped for lunch at a little place on the water. The kids had a great time jumping off the roof of the boat. I would do all three again in a heartbeat. Have fun in whatever you choose!

Ontario Kim,

If you don't mind me asking, how much $$$ was the Cayman boat charter? We were thinking of something like that. Was it just you family or did you have a larger group.

Thanks :fish:

Key West - Trolley tour It was ok, fun to see entire island, but wouldn't do it again

Grand Caymen- Captain Marvins all day Excellent! Our favorite day of the cruise! We bought the video and it is also great. Very well run group of folks at Captain Marvins. I would very highly recommend them.

Cosumel (sp?) - We did Chankanaab Park. It was fun. The cab ride there was a little scary. The park was beautiful, but lunch was pricey. I would try something else next time we're there.

The Dune Buggy excursion through Cozumelhomes.com was by far the best day of the cruise!

Skyhawk

We paid $325 US for the Red Baron Charter. Depending on the time of year you cruise they have different rates. We went Apr 24th week and this fell under their summer rates.

It was just the 5 of us so it was totally private. They have two sailboats. We were actually on the 46' sailboat that can accomodate up to 10-12 people. They provide all the snorkeling equipment and you get drinks and fruit.

Another vote for Capt. Marvins trip to SC as our best excursion. It was great to interact with the stingrays in a natural environment rather than a penned-in "discovery" area (although the rays are quite tame by now, they are still just out there in the middle of the bay). Also, the sandbar itself was beautiful and it made for great swimming and snorkeling. www.captainmarvins.com. We booked it directly.

mrsfuzzmo, I just booked this for our cruise in October and have a question for you. Did you have a problem getting to the excursion on time? I talked to Veronica and she said they like to leave around 10:00am, but all ashore isn't until 10:00am. She said that since it isn't the busy season they would hold a guide back for us, but we really would like to go with the group (we think it would be more fun with a bunch of other people).

Thank you for your review BTW, it sold us on this excursion!!

We did the DCL excursion in Grand Cayman - Shipwreck and Reef Snorkel. You snorkel in front of where the Magic is at anchor. It was great!!

We also liked the snorkeling trip in Key West. Took a catamaran about 8 miles out and snorkeled on the 3 largest barrier reef in the world.

In Cozumel we did the Fury catamaran snorkel and beach party and it was a lot of fun, but it was really, really, really crowded! There was a catamaran for each cruise ship in port that day (5) and we were all at the same snorkel spot and the same beach. Snorkeling was a nightmare with so many people in the water - my husband and I tried to go in the opposite direction of everyone else! Overall, for the price, it was a good time though and it was nice to be out on the water. :earsboy:

Have fun and let us know what you choose to do!

We also did the Fury Catamaran last October and had a blast. There were a lot of people on the catamaran but not too crowded. After snorkling, and the beach party, the catamaran became a party boat. We would definately do this again!

Cindy21494: We had the same concern, but were told by Veronica that we shoudl have no problem. We got off the ship at around 10:10 am. (We really docked at about 9:30, and were let off starting at about 10 am. We found the shop with no problem. About 5 minute walk. 10 am is 10 am "Mexican" time. We didn't actually load the buggies until about 10:45-11:00 am. By the time eveyone signed up (and we waited for a few folks who were coming from a ship a little farther down) even talked a couple walking down the street to join the tour, we were actually en route at about 11. They were in NO RUSH to get started and it was very relaxed. You will have no problem. When we got there, they had us on a list and had us marked "Paid" because we went through cozhomes, they just checked our names off and we sat and waited. You'll be fine. Have a great time!
