I looked for a thread on this but could not find one. What have been peoples' favorite excursions on hte western, especially in Cayman and Cozumel. We are thinking of doing the ruins in Cozumel and snorkling in the Caymans, any advice?

Definitely go to Stingray City in GC and find a way to see the beaches on the far side of Coz.:teeth:

Our friends went with us in January and he loved the diving in Cozumel. He said it was the best he has ever done

Is Captain Marvin's who Disney uses for their excursions? I read so many good things about them, I was wondering if this who does their excursions?

We enjoyed the dolphin encounter and Chananaab (sp?)
park in Cozumel. Stingray City in Grand Cayman!

:sunny:

We loved the Fury Catamaran snorkeling and beach excursion. The boat ride was awesome, the snorkeling was crowded, but still fun, and the beach was gorgeous. It was a fantastic way to see the coastline of Cozumel and to get away to a clean, relaxing beach for a little while. I would highly recommend it!

We haven't been yet, but when we go, we are going to do Stingray City in GC. Capt. Marvin's, Soto's or Nativeway.

and in Cozumel we are doing the Dune Buggy excursion. that's through cozumelhomes.com

Well, our most interesting excursion was the Tulum ruin trip. Our family wanted to see 'real' Mayan ruins, so in July we took the Tulum excursion. DS15 (who turned 16 on the cruise) came home with the best story. First, you take a nice bus to Tulum, however it first takes a stop at a souvenir shop. I was in spending money and when I came out DH was teaching DS about Tequila shots -- seems they offered free little shots (about half size) of tequila with the salt and the lime! Hmmm...

Well, back on the road and the next stop was Tulum. We toured the ruins (100+ degrees and very humid) with our excellent guide. The Mayans were set up right on the beach and it was very beautiful. The tour ends around 1:30 and you can explore, shop or swim on the beach until the bus leaves at 3pm. I was taking ruin pictures when I was elbowed by DH who whispers to me: "You didn't tell me this was a topless beach!" Well, I was surprised -- that wasn't in the excursion description. It was an interesting swim!

By the time we got back to the bus and to our lunch (part of excursion), the tour guide apologized because he was out of Pepsi and only had cerveza left. Needless to say, DS15 enjoyed his first cerveza, to go with his first tequila and his first topless beach....

Well, that excursion was quite a bit more than we thought it would be!

jlawall,

What are the names of the beaches on the far side of Coz. I assume you mean the side that faces east. Thanks for the info folks............

My daughter and I did a jeep/snorkel excursion on Cozumel. They took us to a beautiful beach on the east side of Cozumel called Punta Sur. The swim out to the reef was a good distance and the snorkeling wasn't great, but we still enjoyed it.

Has anyone done the excursion in Cozumel were you tour in personal watercrafts? Sounds like fun but we wonder if you have freedom to stay at certain places, ie the beach, for as long as you want.

We did the jeep safari tour in Cozumel and it was a blast....not for people with bad back....it is a rough ride but great!!!

Also did Capt. Marv for Stingray tour...did the shorter tour 2-3 hours and was great!!!

Here are some pics of the stingray...

I think, it depends do you have any kids?

We've been to Cozumel several times and we love the Tulum & Xacret. Now, that we have kids I think, it would be too hard for them to enjoy the trip especially that port with the boat ride and bus ride. However, on our last cruise we did the Dolphin encounter with my 3 year old and 6 year old and they both loved it. We also, did the Stingray City and had a blast. I wish, we had more time in Cayman though.

GL in picking...

I was still wondering, is Captain Marvin's different than Disney's stringray excursion?
Thanks!

We did Tulum last year. Our DS's were 14 and 10 at the time. They both enjoyed the trip, although it is a long day. We also encountered the topless beach thing. There was a couple on our trip who were very offended. They wanted to complain to Guest Services and asked my DH to complain with them. I think people do not realize that they are not in this country and other countries have different attitudes towards nudity than we do here. If it bothers you, don't look, but don't expect them to change for us.

I'm not home right now but when I am I will get the name of that beach for you.:sunny:
