Favorite vegetarian meals

My friend had the mushroom risotto (sp?) with Parmesan crisp in PALO one evening. I tasted it, I’m far from a vegetarian, but I will order this next time I’m having dinner at PALO.

I'm not a vegetarian, but I had the butternut agnolotti at Palo Dinner and it was amazing. It comes with buffalo mozzarella, but I'm sure they can make it without it.

The truffle pursettes in champagne sauce at animators was the best thing I've ever eaten

I had the glazed portabello over a lentil mix with some kind of pesto. It was outstanding. Also loved the eggplant curry and the Thai pumpkin curry. I tried the sesame parcel thing, and it was pretty good, but I liked the black bean cakes there better (they brought both because the waiter really wanted me to try them). I eat mostly vegetarian but some seafood. For the most part I thought the vegetarian meals were better than many of the seafood entrees I had.

I love the mushroom ravioli. It’s on one of the standard MDR menus. I get it every time!

Me too! It's my favorite meal of the whole cruise, and I'm not a vegetarian either. Also like the tomato tarte and butternut squash soup in AP, the spinach and raspberry salad in EG. Not truly vegetarian because of the stock and/or cheese... but no actual meat is involved.

I eat vegan. They have a vegan menu that is not advertised and it is a chefs choice. I left it up to my server every night to surprise me. WOW. The chefs on the Magic did a wonderful job. We got off the Magic 1 week ago.
They also greatly improved their dessert menu for vegans!

Wow are you serious?
A separate VEGAN only menu? (not the dishes with the little "V" sign on the regular menu)
Did you just ask your server for it or you have to ask for it pre-sailing as a special request via DCL customer service?
I hope they have that option on my next Fantasy cruise (they'd simply win me over for another 5 cruises - that's incredible news for vegans/vegertarians if they have that on all cruises)

Cheese can* be vegetarian, as we usually eat eggs and dairy.

Vegans don’t.

*cheese is not always vegetarian due to the enzyme used to make the individual cheese, but I don’t ask about that when I’m dining out. Just my one little “omg I truly cannot be that high maintenance” moment.

Stock, however, I ask about, as that can make me sick.

Editing to add...another reason I don't ask about what sort of rennet is used in the cheese is that 1. I don't thing servers or even chefs necessarily know, and 2. I'm not sure I'd trust their answers, which is mainly just a me-thing and not an against-them thing.

I really eat Whole Food Plant Based no Salt ,Oil, Sugar when at home. I did not think Disney could cook without salt, oil and sugar.
So I requested Vegan food. Marco, my server was great at getting me vegan food every night. He said it was a "hidden, Chef choice vegan Menu". Most nights it was something different than what was on the vegetarian menu, one night, per my choice, I had a plain baked potato and steamed veggies.
One of the meals had tofu in it, Marco noticed that I had not eaten the tofu. I did not see tofu again the rest of the trip. I do not care for tofu. Soy causes upset tummy. You have to let your server know what you will eat. It makes it a lot easier for them to fix a meal for you.
In Cabanas I was also well taken care of when my service team and head waiter were working there. They taught me what was always cooked vegan so I knew what to eat. I mostly ate the steamed white and veggies.
Now if Disney could only learn to cook without oil.
Our next cruise is the EBPC this fall. I hope to get the same excellent service/food again.

I just got off the Magic on the same day (Transatlantic) and am curious about the chef's choice. I knew they made Indian vegan dishes every night, but didn't realize they had other options (and our server never mentioned that). Now I'm disappointed! I am WFPB as well. Our server handed me the menu the night before and I would look if there was something I wanted. Did they also have choices of appetizers as well? I sometimes found that difficult.

Thanks for the reply.
Too bad you don't like tofu, makes being a vegan so much easier.
And cabanas is awesome for vegans. I love it. If I ever cruised solo on DCL I'd only eat at cabanas and skip the MDR.
I will copy what you do and ask our server for a vegan meal every night, will let the chef surprise me. I'll do it as soon as we embark at the MDR service desk.

I’m not a vegetarian but the eggplant on the captains gala menu is excellent. It’s a appetizer but next time I’m going to get it as a meal. I will just order probably 4 of fhem. Most people will probably only need about three for a meal. Lightly breaded baked eggplant. D474D00E-5D27-42F4-BE07-EE080CBF3558.png

I was not really looking forward to the captain gala menu but didn't notice that. it sounds like rollatini, which I LOVE. actually all of the appetizers sound way better than the mains to me :)

To the OP I LOVED the samosas on the pirate night menu - as good as any indian restaurant I've been to. I had read the pirate menu was not good but it was one of my favorites between the samosa and the jerk chicken - kind of sad it is not on my 7 day fantasy SWDAS!
