due to an app/computer snafu we now find ourselves with a Boma dinner res instead of Ohana. We’ve never been but have heard great things. I remember a few years back a thread where people just posted what they got from yak and yeti so, hit me with your favorite items from Boma! We have 2 adults (mildly adventurous) and a 10 month old eating there :)

We go to Boma every trip! Since it is a buffet, I think you'll find something each of you will like. My husband loves the salmon and the carving stations. I love the soup selections. There are a few cold salads that appeal to me and the wonderful zebra domes! Check the menus and any photos of the food buffet. I hope that you'll love it as much as we do!

Boma is the place that taught me that SOUP is a meal and not an app LOL. Their soups are so good! Our favorites are the mushroom soup and the chicken & corn chowder. We also really like the bobotie, the coconut rice, the carving station and the zebra domes.

We ate at both Boma and Ohana in the last 2 weeks. We will not be back to Ohana, we will be back to Boma.

Honestly I admittedly wasn’t too sad to lose Ohana. My husband had never been and I thought he might enjoy it. But I’ve moved forward in the grieving process LOL

Soups and salmon are always my favorites. They also have a dish that looks like stewed tomatoes (no idea the name) that is slightly sweet and full of flavor and delicious.

Everything is my favorite!!! Seriously though, there really is something for everyone, from the not so adventurous like my DH- he loads up on meats and veggies- to me who has to try a little bit of everything- I went through 3 plates a couple weeks ago. This time I particularly loved the almond crusted salmon, the seafood stew, pasta salad, fruit fool, and I had to save room for 2 zebra domes and a few other desserts- the little Oreo cheesecakes were delicious. There are some really good sauces to try with the meats from the carving station too.

Agree! Soup probably doesn't sound all that exciting but the soups at Boma are so rich and flavorful they are a highlight of the buffet. DW and DD are dedicated carnivores and they'll put a huge dent in the carving stations. I enjoy some of the salads too, again they aren't all just lettuce based, some are really unique and tasty.:)

I think the stewed tomatoes are called chakalaka.

On Wednesdays and Saturdays, Boma typically has ribs, which are my favorite. Bobotie and salmon are also really good. Try the couscous and peanut rice.

The desserts are excellent. The carved meats are also worthwhile if you still have room... :)

You lucked out! I'd rate Boma as one of the best restaurants on property. Although my first visit to Ohana in 2013 was good, the more recent two visits were very disappointing to me, and I'd now rank it among on-property restaurants that I dislike the most.

There are some items at Boma that alternate throughout the week, such as the coconut rice and the peanut rice. As long as you don't have any nut allergies, both are excellent. Depending on the night you're there, you may find coffee tarts or lime cheesecake. Both are excellent. And a favorite dish that always seems to be there is the beef with mustard sauce. And of course, zebra domes. Enjoy!

We stayed at AKL this past June so we ate at Boma's twice. As I plan our next trip I was extremely surprised when the son to be 10 year old insisted that Boma for one dinner make my list. And as for me any place that serves all you can Zebra Domes is a must.

Zebra Domes and the Fruit Fool. I could eat way too much of both. (And pretty much every non-seafood thing there.)

I loved Boma. Even my non-adventurous mother loved Boma.

The salad portion is my favorite - so many choices! I love the watermelon rind salad and the sweet pasta salad. If they have the plantains and cilantro chutney, I get ridiculously happy. The desserts are amazing, and, even as a vegetarian, I find WAY more food than I need! YUM!

I had a gumbo there that was amazing. But a lot of dishes are good or at least interesting. I suggest grazing a little and trying things. You never know what you will discover.

You will love it. Go hungry, very hungry. The flavors are amazing. I just added a night at AK just so we could eat at Boma!

Would it be overkill to do Boma dinner and Boma breakfast on the same trip?

Carrot ginger soup! I’m glad it wasn’t the first thing I got because it would’ve been all I’d have eaten! Amazing. That’s really the only thing I remember. Except that I also hated the Zebra Domes.
