Hopefully there are some fellow Hoosiers in this group. We are planning on driving from Indiana during spring break (probably crazy). Where is your favorite spot to stop along the way?

Great topic! We're flying out of Indy to Orlando for spring break but we plan on driving in June and Oct. I'd love some recommendations. 30 years ago our family would stop in Chattanooga for the night.

Wow that's an extremely long drive! IMHO, I would recommend flying..

We live in Bloomington, have driven many times. We usually stop in Georgia. We like to get most of the trip under our belt the first day and stop after Atlanta. If you can push it, then Tifton is a nice place to stop. I guess it depends on how far you want to go the first day. We've stopped in Macon, too.

I know I have stopped around Macon before too (for other trips to Fl). This is our first spring break with kids in school so it is all new to us! Will have to check out Tifton. Thanks!

We talked about flying but thought it would be a little bit of a money saver (although with gas prices now, who knows?!)

That practically makes us neighbors. We live in Ellettsville. I'm trying to decide if it would be faster to go down i-69 or to cut over to Columbus to go down to i-65. Do you have a preference?

Where in Indiana? We just moved from northern Indiana to near WDW and Chattanooga was about half way for us. If you want to get in some park time on day two, you can make the first day a long one and go on to Atlanta or Macon. If you pick Atlanta, stay somewhere south so you don't have to tangle with the traffic in the morning (you still may have issues around McDonough, but your chances are better).

We drove from the Chicago area growing up and our benchmark for the first day was always to make it past Atlanta as well. Macon and Valdosta both bring back memories of "when are we finally going to stop" in a dark minivan.

We drove down from west central IN this summer and made a long day of driving on day one, stopping for the night in Lake City, FL. The following day, we finished the drive and spent a wonderful first day at Blizzard Beach. It was a 12 hour solid drive that took just over 13 hours with stops.
I would definitely do this exact trip again! It really was a nice way to split the drive.

Hi Neighbor!

The route we have taken several times is to go down 69, then hook up with I-24, then connect with I-75 and take that all the way down to Florida. We've taken the 65 route before and honestly, I think you make better time on 69 than having to get over to Columbus. We don't really like 65, either.

B-town in the house! I keep wanting to drive to relive my memories from childhood (though it was NC to FL; so, not quite as long) but it seem like it would be a little too much as a single parent (plus I have a lot of SW credit to use).
