Favorite Snack as a Kid

Great Thread! This brings back so many memories.

We lived on the water in Boston, so my Dad used to get the Blue Crabs. We would wait until it was dark out boil them up and snack on them for hours out on our porch (which was up high right by the stars) The perfect evening!
Actually, it didn't have to be crabs we would eat anything out there LOL...he liked to fry up eggs and pepper subs, Fava Beans that you have to peel and eat, but the crabs were my favorite.

We had a little toaster oven in the kitchen and we would take saltines and line them on the bottom of the little tray.

Then we'd put marshmellows on top of each saltine. And a dot of butter on top of each marshmellow. Then watch the marshmellows get big and puffy and expand over the edges of the saltines...and get a little brown on top.

You'd pick them up off of the hot tray with butter dripping off and enjoy.

I haven't thought of this snack OR a toaster oven in years. :)

I loved Pudding and Jello Pops (just like a popcicle almost) - remember those? I am still craving them, even if it is cold outside!

Open faced peanut butter and jelly on Ritz crackers.
And Jolly Rancher cherry stick things. My dad used to get free samples all the time from the companies he did business with. Seems we always had Jolly Rancher sticks and suave strawberry shampoo in the house.....cases of it! LOL

My weird favorite snack was raw potatoes. If my mom was peeling them I'd help and just eat chunks of them raw with a little salt. I also loved celery, though that's not so weird. (Just for a kid, I guess.)

My favorite 'normal' kid snack were fresh made Rice Krispies squares. I think they still are. YUM.

Bologna rolled up in a little tube with a toothpick stuck through it. Eaten by holding the toothpick and nibbling either end until all that is left is the little circle directly surrounding the toothpick.

Peanut butter, american cheese on a saltines. I would fold the cheese into 4 squares, put pb on one saltine, then put the cheese and then a little dab of pb on the cheese and then the other saltine. Yummy. Sometimes my mom would have carrots or celery and I liked that too.

Geno's Pizza Rolls and Red Hawaiian Punch.

My mom used to make little bowls filled with PB and honey mixed together. I would just grab a spoon and go to town. She would also cube ham for me:) I wish she would come over and do that now--what a yummy snack.

My friend and I would make chocolate chip cookie dough a lot. We got in trouble for it a lot too, because we would eat it raw. Thankfully we never got sick.
