Favorite sad movie???

A Beautiful Life

Sense and Sensebility

Shadowlands (the love story of C.S. Lewis and Joy Grisham)

.....  Toy Story 2 ("When she loved me...") and Monsters Inc really get to me. The first time I watched Monsters Inc I sobbed.

I am with you LookingForward.
Terms of Endearment is my second favorite movie (after Pirates of the Caribbean :flower: ). I love the line you mentioned about the shot and a few others that I love....when she realizes who her husbands lover is and is frantically pushing the stroller and says "don't make me chase you, I have a toddler here" and when Patsy says to her in the hospital "you are my touchstone, Emma", when she cannot pronounce "Lizbeth" properly, when mom and daughter are in bed with legs locked in the air and mom says "I forgot how (you know what)-tastic *** is!". Jack and his reply to I love you....I just love the whole movie. It has moved me for twenty years. Ahhhh. :lovestruc

No sad movies for me......I am such a sap that it is just too exhausting for me to watch them. Even my kids will keep them away from me. :confused3

Wow, SamRoc, I love Penny Serenade. I thought my sister and I were the only ones who had ever even seen it. That little girl in the movie is adorable, and I love Cary Grant and Irene Dunne.

Steel Magnolias, A Walk To Remember, The Notebook, there are so many.

Also has anyone seen Imitation of Life. It was made in 1959 and starred Lana Turner. There is a moment at the end that is definitely a tear jerker.

Okay, here goes:

My #1- Schindler's List or Sophie's Choice- both are just agonizing. they are the type of movie I loved seeing once, but never want to see again- just too painful to watch.
Joy Luck Club
Titanic
Out of Africa
Steel Magnolias
Terms of Endearment
Forrest Gump
Philadelphia
West Side Story
Somewhere in Time (Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour)
E. T.
Gone With the Wind
A Walk to Remember
Big Fish
The Color Purple
Little Women (any versoin, but especially the Winona Ryder/Susan Sarandon one)
Beaches
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
Beauty and the Beast
Homeward Bound
Old Yeller

Those are just a few... can you tell I am a crier??

An oldie but a great movie.. I cry every time I see it... How Green Was My Valley

So many good movies!! I have to put in my vote for "The Notebook". That movie even got to my DH! It's one of the things I asked for Christmas. Love it. The guy (Ryan Gosling, I think?) is a cutie too. ;)

I am so glad someone else likes Penny Serenade! I also love "The Best years of our Lives" with Fredric March and Myrna Loy. Most of the films I love are from the 40's and 50's. "Leave her to Heaven" with Gene Tierney, and "Forever Amber" with Linda Darnell are good ones too!

beaches is my favorite movie ever! I read the notebook, but haven't seen the movie. The book is really good.

SamRoc, I also love The Best Years of Our Lives. I am big fan of Gene Tierney as well but haven't seen Leave Her To Heaven. I need to rent it. My mom thinks my sister and I were born in the wrong decades since we are in are 20s and 30s but love movies from 1930s and 1940s (with a few 1950s thrown in (Grace Kelly was wonderful)). I also love Love Affair (the original with Charles Boyer and Irene Dunne). They just don't have movie stars like they used to.
