Tower - Theme Park View, worth every penny. Also request an odd numbered room; they are configured so you can sit in the bed and view the Magic Kingdom/Cinderella Castle.

We stayed in a Lake View room last time at Contemporary. Didn't think the added cost for park view would have been worth it (it was several hundred dollars more but don't recall exact amount). Lake View gets you a great vantage point for the nightly lighted boat show. Not sure if any of that has changed due to covid.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. I would just request a high floor so you have a better view. We liked lake view as we could see the electric water parade and some of the EP fireworks (when they are scheduled). We also enjoy the garden wing rooms as they are quieter and you don't have to contend with the often, crowded tower elevators.

Anything in the Tower is great. The rest comes down to price point that you want to spend. Of course the Theme Park View is the best since that really is a one of a kind view but the lake side is peaceful and you can watch the water pageant from your room.

With the tower, my opinion is you can't go wrong with either view. MK viewing options are abundant, either from the north end stairwells, the 4th floor observation deck, or the BLT walkway - so even with a standard (lake) view room there are places to get in a little MK view fix.

I find them very opposite experiences though - with TPV... it's so alive with action, motion, things to look at (MK, monorails, boats, other resorts, etc). There's a real energy that is hard to articulate - an energy I find exciting/invigorating. There are some downsides though - you get a lot of parking lot view in the foreground and you do have the ever-present buses on World Drive from early AM to late at night. Bus roars and beeps can occasionally be heard. I find these part of the buzz of a TPV room, but some may not. A no cloud summer afternoon/evening will be a scorcher on the balconies on this side. Like literally, cook an egg hot.

With the standard (lake) view - I find it incredibly peaceful and serene. The sunrise view is fantastic. It's pure relaxation. A nice respite from a typical busy WDW day. Watching EWP from your room is priceless.

For either view I do usually request to be on the north end of the building as that's the side away from Chef Mickey's. It's not really an issue right now given lower occupancy, but in normal times I have on occasion been able to hear that song and the clanking of plates/silverware from my room (especially upper floor rooms - sound seems to travel straight up). So if I had a choice, I'd rather be on the north end away from that noise below. BUT, this is a very minor observation, not a deal killer (in my opinion).

related question- We have a Standard View Garden Room booked for June, I'm going to call tomorrow and make a location request. Does anyone have suggestions as to what I should request? I know ground floor rooms are desirable as they have a small patio... any other things regarding location I should consider requesting?

It really depends. If you want to be closer to the tower, you will end up with a view of a parking lot. There are some standard view rooms in the 6000 building that are closer to the beach area but mostly have a view of a building (though some have a bit of a peek at the monorail). Those are further from the tower, however. I prefer to be closer to the beach area, but I don't mind the walk to the lobby.
