We had a few here, too, before they closed down. DH could (or would not) call it by the correct name . It's too close to another word and that's all he would think of !
I miss Pizzaria Uno's!!! Pretty much everywhere else around has NY style pizza, and while I love that, I also liked getting the occassional Chicago style from Uno's.
I remember a restaurant that I used to go to in my teen years called Po' Folks. Boy did they have the best chicken, and the atmosphere was so fun. Anybody remember this one?? Anyone?? Or am I just crazy?? (Don't answer that!!)
They have wonderful hamburgers. We had one years ago that closed. DH heard last year we were getting another, but so far no word. We still eat at one in Branson, MO when we visit. I love their fixin's bar.
Fuddruckers is NO longer here in North Miami Beach it closed about 2 months ago. Also, Beefsteak Charlies was good, but its been gone a LONG time, also Bennigans is closed too, been ther about 25 years, and now its gone! Anyone remember Swensons? Gone gone gone.
I went to Kahiki once, when I would visit a friend in Columbus. It was the coolest place! I only was there once, but I still remember the huge aquariums and the south seas atmosphere. Don't remember the food at all though!
I LOVE restaurants with major theming in them. Guess it's the Disney in me that just gets such a kick out of that stuff.
in the mid 70s in union city, new jersey, there was a restaurant called "bottom of the barrel" (the best open steak sandwiches!) - still have the old menu....
also in the mid 70s in paramus, new jersey (on route 17) was a restaurant called "jade fountain" (all you can eat chinese buffet tuesday thru thursday for $12.99!!)
Only a small chain, New Port Richey, Anna Marie Island, here in Bradenton and one down in Englewood. Great seafood. The family sold out and they tried to expand via franchises but it didn't work. Sadly.
Ahh the memories...I spent every summer in wildwood from the time I was an infant till I was in my 20's,I remember going there quite often. Now when I go down to Wildwood I go thru that area,I get a little sad every time I pass by where it used to be

I remember both of these. Jade Fountain was the very first Chinese buffet I ever ate at. It's not like they were all over the place back then. Also the Oriental Luau in Old Tappan had a good Chinese buffet.
Chock Full O Nuts counter service restaurants in NYC were great for a quick lunch and obviously, a good cup of coffee. I used to love their nutted cheese sandwiches (cream cheese on date nut bread) and their tuna salad sandwiches. They also had the BEST cream pies: coconut cream, lemon cream, banana cream. Yummy!
I'm also going way back into the 60's and 70's for this, hopefully someone can remember a name. At the old Garden State Plaza (back before it was an enclosed mall), there was a restaurant that I know was part of a chain where I'd always get a great hot open roast beef sandwich. I can see it in my head but I can't for the life of me remember the name of it.
