We're in a food rut. It's been tacos, burgers, spaghetti for weeks with the occasional dining out. We need new recipes! Pinterest has been an overwhelming chaos of information, but I'd love some tried and loved recipes from real people.

So, what is a favorite family recipe? Do you have a food blog you love and follow? An Instagram account that lists yummy recipes? Share them with me and help me get out of this rut.

Have you tried signing up for the allrecipes? I get them all the time. Even Pillsbury has good ones. I get emails. I love pinerest.
I am a casserole lover and a pot pie. I also throw pulled pork in my crockpot or ribs. Come home to a full meal.

So, it seems your family definitely likes Mexican (tacos), Italian (spaghetti), and American (burgers) flavors. So, I'd start there to leave the rut:)...

For Mexican, I'd add in enchiladas, fajitas, nachos, and quesadillas to the rotation...I might branch out from the typical ground beef/chicken and try pork carnitas, steak, shrimp, white fish (like tilapia), double bean, just cheese, chili, etc...just making those kinds of changes would give you about 20 dinner options...

For Italian, I'd add lasagnas, stuffed shells, tortellini, fettucine, risotto, ravioli, and "parmesans"...I'd add pesto, clam, Alfredo, arribiata, roasted red pepper sauces, and cold pomodoro sauces...and caponata and ratatouille options...I'd use spinach, eggplant, chicken, canned clams, anchovies or sardines, more shrimp, fresh mozzarellas, even butternut squashes for replacements for the likely ground beef...again, you could add tons of options working with just subbing one ingredient or type...

And the burgers...they don't need to be ground beef with cheddar cheese melted on top...they can become both "cuisine" burgers (like a Taco burger) or different protein burgers (chicken burgers, turkey burgers, black bean burgers, buffalo burgers, etc)...one of my favorite burgers is a turkey burger with havarti cheese, a homemade dijonaise (brown mustard and mayo) and some lettuce...it's like a turkey sandwich, but better...and if you add some bacon on top - home run!:)

I mean, there's a lot of recipes in the world, but the best ones to start with are the ones that include a lot of what your family is eating or will eat, but adds a nice new twist, so it's always fresh and new:)...

Ever since I had my son in a few months ago coming up with meals has been tough! One thing I did that really helped was to make a meal "schedule". Basically I sat down for like 2 hours one day and scoured Pinterest. I came up with 4 weeks worth of meals (you could do 6 or 8 weeks though if you felt you needed more variety) with no repeats! Then we just rotate week to week for awhile and swap out meals when we get tired of them. Plus then that way I already have most of my grocery list done and I just have to add on the odds and ends each week. So for example, some meals from "week 1" include Eggplant parmesean, vegetarian pot pie, and philly cheesesteaks. Some meals from week 2 include stuffed mushrooms with eggplant pizza bites, baked potato soup in the crockpot, and eggs and bacon. Basically each week I try to have one mexican meal, one italian meal, one breakfast for dinner, one american meal, and then a few family favorites sprinkled in. I also try to keep in mind things that make enough for leftovers so DH can take some for lunch the next day!

yummly is a good site. you can tweak it to your family's likes/dislikes/allergies to choose recipes that fit for you. it's also lets you enter ingredients you have on hand to find recipes. dd turned introduced us to some of their soups which are now among our winter favorites-the stuffed bellpepper and lasagna are great.

play around with it and it will learn your preferences.

My two favorite websites for cooking are maangchi.com and nomnompaleo.com (even when not eating paleo).

Cooking--Families and Kids
It was my kids a few years ago that suggested this site
Kraftrecipes.com ,,,they like putting in the ingredients and coming up with the recipes.
I liked it because they would actually eat and not complain and most recipes are 10 min-30 min prep.
Try adding fresh salads/cut up veggies and dip/ and fresh fruit/dip.
