What are your favorite places to just sit down and rest in the parks? I like being in the parks and the atmosphere, and don't particularly want to waste the time going back and forth to the resort for some rest/down time. Not opposed to going back to the resort if I feel like I need to, but part of the fun is just enjoying the atmosphere of the parks. :)

A bunch of spots in Epcot... the gazebo area in England behind the tea store. Sometimes the band is playing but other than that it's great. Go over the bridge from England heading to France... once over the bridge go down to the left... that's a great spot to rest and also to watch Illuminations. In back of the countries... Italy, Morrocco and probably others.

Magic Kingdom - take the walk from Fantasyland (or the old Toon Town) towards Tomorrowland. THere's a walkway that follows along the railroad... pretty sure there's benches along there. Shaded area under railroad by Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain RR.

HS - there's a nice little bar back by Muppets!

Thanks!! In the MK, are there chairs/benches on Tom Sawyer Island, do you know?

there normally is a lot of people smoking back there so if you do not like it or allergic I would not go back there.

Which are no longer there so you have your spot back

Really? That's great! We were just there this past week and I didn't see them. Then again, can't go on Space Mountain anymore due to my back getting jerked around too much.

I specifically looked for them in December, and took photos. This time, I never bothered. Glad to hear they are gone. That is a fantastic place to sit and relax. Rarely anyone over there, and an entire circle of benches in the shade most of the time.

The Nomad Lounge next to Tiffins at Animal Kingdom is an elegant, shaded water view place to sit in big cushioned wicker chairs and sofas and sample cocktails, wine, and beer cheaper than in the most of the counter service places. They have a small but interesting bar food menu (the wings and ribs are really delicious). Once Avatar land opens that might change, because the Nomad Lounge is located at the end of a path that currently goes to nowhere, but will be right on the main drag when Pandora opens. There is an indoor portion of the bar, as well. Spend $1 to create your own artistic adventure hang tag that will be added to the collection in the ceiling. It has been a quiet respite in the past, although today there were a couple families who squeezed in with huge strollers and let their kids squeal and jump around the cushions, so the peaceful ambiance and eclectic music soundtrack was pretty well ruined. Disney allows kids in bars, and although I avoided taking my kids to bars when they were little, there's no rule against it. Parents probably need the drinks more than anybody, but although we love kids, we just opt to come back later if it looks more like preschool than an adult lounge. This place is worth finding.

On Carousel of Progress.

On TomorrowLand People Mover.

We have found that in MK we like Aunt Polly's on Tom Sawyer island because it's quiet and has great relaxing views. We also like the top floor of Columbia Harbor House because it's generally quiet up there to eat as well.

In EPCOT we have found that the gardens up in Japan are peaceful as well as over near Joffery's and UOE.

In AK we like the little nook over near kusafari coffee shop and bakery.

There are actually lots, but some favorites that come to mind:

Magic Kingdom:
  • Carousel of Progress :)
  • Hall of Presidents (not an option again until July)
  • People Mover
  • Outdoor tables at Pinocchio Village Haus
  • Upstairs at Columbia Harbor House
  • Tortuga Tavern tables
Hollywood Studios
  • Covered patio area over by Anaheim Produce
  • Outside tables at ABC Commissary
  • Outside tables at Backlot Express
  • When it's not hot out, my wife and like to grab a Joffrey's coffee and sit at one of the many benches near the lake area and just people watch
EPCOT
  • We typically grab a snack in one of the World Showcase countries, and grab a bench somewhere off the beaten path.
Animal Kingdom
  • We almost always hop to another park from AK, so we are rarely there long enough for a rest.

MK: Hall of Presidents, Country Bear Jamboree, Tiki Room, People Mover, Carousel of Progress, Upstairs at Columbia Harbour House.
EP: Ellen's Energy Adventure, American Adventure, also QS restaurant in American Adventure, benches in France
HS: Great Movie Ride, Beauty and the Best Show, Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular, sitting on the wall outside Rock n Roller Coaster
AK: Festival of the Lion King, Nemo Show, Safari, tables in Dino Land (but they can be very hot because there's not much shade).
