I have always traveled with my family to WDW so my main focus was on making sure everyone was having a great time with some photo time slipped in. I am starting to plan a girls trip with a friend who also has been to Disney before many times but this time said she wants to go with someone who loves Disney as much as she does or in my case more. Which sounds amazing to me as my family doesn't have the same passion I do for Disney. We both love to take photos and have some ideas of our own but would love to hear from all of you as well. Thank you in Advance.

That very much describes our trips. :)

I like to look around the Disney photographers' photostreams on Flickr and make notes of similar shots I'd like to try. I usually leave home with a few in my mind that I'd like to try. I never end up with much time to set up my shots, but occasionally it works out.

Thank you that is a great idea. I look at a lot here on Disboards and do that but forgot Flickr was another option for that. I have heard other make mention of places here and there but thought this would make a fun thread. I wish MK had a Ferris wheel to get a great high vantage point to take a few photos.

The biggest tip, and this does go for all photography of course, but photos from eye level are boring - try above your head or from the ground.

Also, wide angle lenses - get the widest you have, and walk forward to fill the frame.

Try to put your focus on the little things. Everybody takes pictures of the buildings and the attractions but who takes pictures of the small things (like coke bottles stacked to the sides) or weird places (like the inside of the restrooms).

Also, don't forget to look behind you! Sometimes the interesting thing maybe right behind you - especially if you are waiting in a queue that usually only goes one way. Also, if herds of people are taking a shot from the left, why not try taking one from the right!

And if you have the time, venture off to the resorts. There are so many things to see there as well!

Thank you this is all great ideas to think about and try. Last trip I went to the top of that water slide in Carribean Beach resort to take sunset photos of the resort as an example. These are the little things and places I am looking for mostly in the parks though. Higher vantage points of things beyond the obvious places (train station in MK, Swiss family Robinson treehouse, etc.) Thank you.

I have an 8mm Roki fisheye that I pack whenever I go places, and love taking shots looking up between buildings, low angles looking up in a crowd of people (so everyone is around the border of the frame), or a high angle looking down at your group of people for super selfies. :)

I had a Rokinon fisheye once. Loved the wideangle. Didn't like the heavy curve so much though. I traded it for a 10-22 wideangle. Love love love love that lens. It was my go to lens on my last Disneyland trip.

Ahh. I made the same upgrade as well to the 10-22 USM and I'm finding that it's much much more versatile. It has now become my go-to vs the 8mm Roki. The thing I miss is the 8mm aspect.. it's sooo wide... The only time I use it now is during parties for fun group photos.
