Car rentals abound for our upcoming trip. I was wondering if anyone out there had a favorite company? and (if you care to explain) why?

Second part...anyone out there ever heard of EZ Rent a car at MCO?

Thanks!:hippie:

I choose Hertz for the most part because of the Prestige rentals and Gold Service, although it is inconvenient that they are still offsite and require a shuttle (this is changing in Q1 2010 and they will be onsite). Otherwise National is nice because of Executive Aisle and the "pick your own" car from the other Aisles.

I use National---extraordinarily convenient to use the Aisle service, very efficient drop-off, and my employer has a negotiated rate.

I used Budget this time because I wanted a company that was on MCO property. The price was OK and it was convenient. It's a bit confusing, though, when trying to drop it off on the way home. I THINK it would be easier to enter airport property from the north instead of the south like I've done the last two times. Unless I've missed the correct exit ramp both times, you have to drive all the way through the airport and right before the north exit, turn back south. The Return ramp is then just ahead on the left. :confused3

Back to your question about E-Z Rent-A-Car...
We are located in terminal at the Orlando Airport.

We are a discount car rental provider with many car rental coupons and a great rewards program. Our 2010 fleet just came in in November, meaning much of our fleet is brand new!

Thanks!

Isn't E-Z the budget arm of Hertz? Or am I confusing it with another company?

You are thinking of "Simply Wheelz" by Hertz. EZ Rental Car is it's own agency at MCO. They are a national brand, but are not as well know. My in-laws rented from them at Las Vegas with no issues...

To answer the OP, I use National and Alamo. They are both owned by the same company. You get to choose whatever car you want from the car class chosen. I will use National first using my executive selection status as upgrades are also very possible.

Thanks I guess the "z" is what threw me!

I like to use rental companies that are located in the airport garage - though we've rented from Hertz (off airport location) and Alamo (when it was off airport) without any problems.

I like Dollar as I can usually find a good price. Budget has been a good alternative occasionally and National is very convenient. We've had good experiences with each of those companies and wouldn't hesitate to recommend any of them.

I think that selecting a rental company comes down to personal preferences - cost vs. convenience vs. type of vehicle vs. "free" second driver, etc - and deciding which company best meets those requirements. Each of these companies has its advantages so you just need to identify the right fit for you, I think.

I've heard of EZ but have no experience with them. They've been in Orlando for a long time and the fact that they're located at the airport (they pay high fees for that privilege) speaks to their viability.

I have always had good experiences with Thrifty, but more importantly, the worst car renting experience I ever had anywhere was with Payless in Orlando. Avoid!

If prices were equal I prefer National AE but since they rarely are I'm leaning towards Alamo because the kiosk is really easy and quick. When it comes to renting a car I prefer anything where I don't have to stand in line or deal with a human.

We usually stick with National....we really like EA service.......the only drawback is we don't get any airline credits when we use National.....because we usually fly SWA or Airtran.....and National isn't a partner of either airline.
However, we have occasionally used Alamo .......and the kiosk.......when the National price is just TOO high.........which hasn't happened recently. I've managed to get very comparable prices with National our past two or three trips. We're paying $225 total for the first week of January and we're not even using EA service......but, rather full size reserved since there are five of us this trip. Everything else was over $300 when I booked and I've been checking regularly to see if anything has dropped, but, they haven't.

I guess I've become a Hertz basher. The rates are always higher than Dollar or Budget or Alamo or Thrifty or National and what do you get for paying through the nose? Well, an inconvenient shuttle trip off site of course. I prefer National AE.

Typically Hertz offers better vehicles, however this has been diminished in the recent economy. Enterprise/National/Alamo are one of the worst offenders of class creep, assigning smaller/less vehicles to higher and higher classes. Some examples are Kia Amantis and Chrysler 300Cs showing up in Luxury class and the reassignment of Toyota Corollas as Midsize.

Hertz also offers Prestige and Fun Collections which are a benefit to those who want a specific vehicle (make/model reservable) or something outside the typical rental car fare.

We have had good luck with Dollar and Alamo. This year, we tried Avis because of price. We had a dead battery issue and a billing issue and had very poor customer service regarding both. We sent 3 emails to customer service and two letters to the corporate office and after 7 weeks...no response.

My vote goes for Dollar car rental. I have used them many times. Their rates are one of the best I have found, and they are located in both Orlando and Tampa airports in case you want that option.
