Does anyone have any non-Disney restaurants (non-chain) that they consider a must-go-to when they're in the Orlando area? Looking for one more dinner to round out our ADRs, and thinking about going off-site. Probably prefer steakhouse/American with a good atmosphere. We've done Shulas, and love it, but we have one here and are looking for someplace that's unique to the area. TIA

We're gonna try del frisco's next time down. People compare it to peter lugar's. Otherwise, i've never been disappointed at ruth's chris on sand lake. Oceanaire had great oysters last time down. Primo for italian (havent eaten there since they switched chefs)

I think it is a chain but we always make sure we go to Chevys at the crossroads. They have great mexican food, and the sangria is delicious

I know it is a chain but our family loves it and it is tradition to go to it when we are in Orlando, or anywhere else that they have them since we don't have them in Minnesota

we really enjoyed Seasons 52 - all fresh food - there are two locations - we finally got Seasons 52 here in atlanta and just think it is great!

Hue Restaurant is an "urban bistro" and very good - located in downtown orlando

Ming's is a great chinese restaurant

Morton's Steakhouse is really good too!

Let us know where you wind up!:thumbsup2

No contest for our family, Texas De Brazil!

That was the place my freind in Mass was telling me about and I coudn't find it. She used to live in Orlanda and that was her favorite place to eat

Our favorite Orlando restaurant, including WDW's except V&A, is Emeril's @ Universal's CityWalk. Mama Della's @ Universal's Portifino Bay Hotel is also very good. The portions are larger & cheaper than Emeril's. Universal's Hard Rock Hotel has a Palm Steakhouse, if you want steak. For a cheaper meal, I agree with Bahama Breeze. We ate there for the 1st time last August, & were pleasantly surprised.

We all love KOBE. It's the Japanese Steakhouse and there are always coupons in the hotel lobbies outside of the world. There are 4 locations, we've been to most of them, but my favorite location is the one off of Sand Lake Rd.near Westgate Lakes. The portions are huge and so yummy. It's so much better than Epcot's Japanese steakhouse.

We also LOVE LOVE LOVE Bahama Breeze, even though it's a chain. Try the garlic shrimp pasta or any of the jerk painted fish. The beer batter onion rings are enough for 4 people. The dipping sauce is amazing. The margarita coloda is awesome and the prices are good!

And our favorite little secret, at the crossroads there is a sports bar. We were looking for a place to watch the Eagles game and the ESPN club was mobbed. So we stumbled here and the munchies were great, good lunch menu if you want burgers, wings, etc. with huge portions, so cheap, and best of all, kids eat free on Sundays. Go figure!

My parents live a little south of Orlando. They really like Seasons 52 and Roy's. That's generally what they recommend when people are looking for someplace other than the parks.

kaykels: Go Eagles :cheer2: There's also a Buffalo Wild Wings for anyone looking for places to watch some football outside of WDW.

Where is Buffalo Wild Wings?

And yay Eagles!

Since I live in the area thought I would chime in here. I love Maggiano's on I-Drive. It's a chain but there aren't a ton of them. I absolutely love Mimi's Cafe, Season's 52 is fantastic, Bice at the Portafino Resort at Universal is heaven.
