What are your favorite non-Disney socal things to do? We'll be there for a week and I'm wondering what else we should do.

Thanks!

We attended an Angels game, we went shopping at the local mall, we took Amtrak along the coast to San Diego and went to Balboa Park and went to some of the museums in there (beautiful) and did an "Old Town Trolley Tour" that took us everywhere in SD including Old Town, Downtown, Coronado Island, Balboa Park and more...have fun!! here's a link!

We like going to Hollywood, doing Sunset Blvd with the hokey stuff like Gruman's Theatre, Kodak and driving down the dead end streets up through the hills to see the mansions, Rodeo Drive and then driving over to Malibu and down to one of the beaches Venice, Santa Monica Pier.

We use to do Knotts until it became another coaster place. The private tour at Warner Bros is nice but there was a min. age limit

My next trip I want to try that hot dog place in Hollywood and have some desert at the Disney on Sunset

The Pasadena area is a nice place to visit. There's the Huntington Library and Gardens (you can look at their website for more info - it's more fun than it sounds. lol), the LA Arboretum, the Gamble House (probably not good for very little kids though) and then there's the whole downtown Pasadena area (the rose parade route) with shopping, restaurants and the Norton Simon Museum.

We love going to Huntington Beach to spend the afternoon and then end the day with a nice meal at Duke's next to the pier.

Another favourite thing to do is to spend 3-5 days relaxing in San Diego. We go to Old Town, shop at the Carlsbad outlet, spend the day boogie boarding at Moonlight beach in Encinitas and enjoy a picnic lunch, and so much more.

Or we head to L.A. and go shopping at The Grove and Farmer's Market. We also visit La Brea Tar Pits.

Take the cable car up to San Jacinto Wilderness State Park near Palm Springs. You go through several climates pus there is great walking and exploring up at the top.

You mean there's something other than Disneyland? ;)

All kidding aside, when we go to Disneyland, we go to Disneyland and don't visit anything else. Because I have been to other SoCal attractions, I guess I can say "been there done that" and it is just not the same to me.

Knott's Berry Farm is a fun place to go. It has some great roller coasters (the majority of the big rides are roller coasters) and is a lot of fun. If your child meets the 48" height requirement, you will be able to go on most of the rides, all though some of the more intense rides have higher height requirements.

The beaches! (Huntington, Santa Monica Pier). We LOVE Universal Studios, Sea World and the San Diego Zoo. Magic Mountain is fun!

My DH went to UCLA, and we have been back to the LA area many times over the last 20+ years. This spring, we made our first trip to the Griffith Observatory. You have a great view of the Hollywood sign and panoramic views of LA and beyond. I'm sorry we waited so long for a visit.

Observatory has many interesting exhibits, and it's free (except for some shows).

Of course, you have to deal with the LA traffic, and it did take us over an hour to get to Anaheim...
