Favorite memory at WDW

I have many wonderful memories at WDW.

But i would have to say my favorite memory was when my grandparents came with my family, which at the time was my mom, dad and brother conner. My nana didnt really like the rides but wanted to go to be with me because we were her first grandchildren. So we were walking in the park and I remember I was just tall enough for BTMRR and it was my favorite. I was like nana nana come with me so she came on (not knowing it was a rollercoaster lol i guess she couldnt see it) but when we were in line she was looking through one of those circle windows and she stayed on just for me. i was so happy and i will never forget it. she passed away when i was in 4th grade (2004) and i was devistated but at her funeral i got up and told the story and everyone started crying. Its the best memory ever and really proves how much she loved me, even though she showed it every day we were together!

another good one was on that same trip...
we went to the grand floridian for breakfast i think its called park way (something like that) and i had on finished my orange juice and drank everyone elses because it was amazing!

My favorite trip was when DD was 4. It was her first trip and she was in love with Princess Aurora. She had worn out a DVD of Sleeping Beauty. It was our last day at the parks and I had booked the Princess Breakfast in Norway as a surprise. When Aurora came out and DD saw her, she got tears in her eyes and said "Momma, shes beautiful" It was worth every penny and I still tear up thinking about it.

Mine is just very simple....it was our first trip to Disney. My dh works a crazy amount of hours, and doesn't take much time to relax. Our first day at MK we stopped in Liberty Square with a popcorn and soda and just sat down to snack and people watch. Dh sat down let out a content sigh and said "this is nice". To see the true relaxation on his face was everything to me, and why (even though we do other vacations elsewhere), I like us to get back to Disney every year.

Wow these are great.... I get goose bumps and tear up with every memory I read..... keep em comin'

I have so many wonderful memories. The year at the Diamond Horseshoe that I got a picture of the whole cast there signed by them all. I treasure that picture to this day.

December, 2007 trip. I was in a wheelchair waiting for Spectromagic to start. A CM had a hopscotch drawn on the street and would give a sticker to each kid that went through. I told my husband that if I wasn't in that chair, I would go and do it just for that lousy sticker. A few minutes later I see DH go over to the CM. I was wondering what he was asking her. UMMMMM He wasn't asking her anything. He was in line to hopscotch! I laughed so hard at this big, 6'2" guy hopscotching, that I had tears running down my face. He got my sticker.....after telling the CM that his wife MADE him do it!

My DIL helped me make a wonderful autograph book with a picture of each character on the page and then a place for my picture with the character. I had many pages filled. We were waiting for the Evil Stepmother and the step sisters to come out, when we met Gary. He was the head of the handlers. He saw my book and asked if there was anyone special I wanted their autograph. I just handed him my book and told him anyone and I would be happy. He said I'll be back in about a half hour. That was fine. We were just hanging out relaxing and watching the kids with the Fairy Godmother and then the Stepmother. Half an hour goes by and another few minutes and here comes Gary. He apologises for taking so long. I look in my book and he has gotten EVERYONE. A total of 33 autographs, including Tinkerbell. Then because he was a few minutes late, he insisted on giving us a fastpass for any ride in the MK all day. What a wonderful man.

I'm in my 30s now but as a teen I was diagnosed with cancer (Non-Hodgkins lymphoma). I was on high dose chemotherapy for 18 months from my junior year in high school to my first semester in college. My mom surprised me with a trip to WDW, just the two of us, during this time. I think it was this trip that continues to make Disney so special to me. This was a time of worry, stress, insecurity, etc. But I remember sitting with my mom watching the Easter Parade on Main Street and feeling all of those things slip away. I was just a kid having a blast at Disney, not the illness that had defined me for so long. They really brought magic to both of us that week. Now taking my own DDs each year with my parents and DH, we've created out own wonerful and magical memories:)

I planned a trip with my future DH and his then 3 year old son, James. I wanted everything to be perfect because it was their first trip. Well, if it could go wrong, it did go wrong. James was scared of every ride. We couldn't even get him on It's a Small World without tears. I sent future DH to go on a couple of rides and sat down with James to get something to eat. He immediately had to go to the bathroom, and when we got back to the table, the birds had gotten into our food. At one point, both he and I were in tears. We went back to the hotel for a nap and a swim and came back to the MK that night though all I really wanted to do was fly home. The Spectromagic parade started up, and he looked up at us with this look of wonder on his face and said, "It's the most beautiful thing I ever sawed." After that, it was like a switch was flipped. He loved everything about the trip from that moment on.

Hands down our first family trip in 2005! We were lined up outside MK ( 1st time) waiting for park to open watching the opening ceremony. My girls were little then ,5 and 8, and they looked up at the train station, at Mickey, and were just mesmerized! I teared up just watching them watch Mickey. I was overwhelmed with thoughts of accomplishment as a mom! I know it is a little materialistic but it was my moment! :goodvibes

December, 2000 (i think) we took my mom to Disney for Christmas. She had been taking care of my grandfather for 3 years since my grandmother died. We surprised her with the trip and stayed in a MK view tower room at the Contemporary. My favorite part of the trip was when she walked out onto the balcony turned to look at us with tears in her eyes and said"I have always wanted to stay here and never thought I would thank you." I have had many great and wonderful memories at Disney and I think this is most definately one of my best.

Lots of great memories. I can't decide between two... my younger dd at age 2, wearing her Snow White dress, talking to Snow White with the real one saying "Am I looking in a mirror?" DD literally shook with joy at that comment. :goodvibes

The other is when my older dd was 7 or 8, and rode RnRC for the first time. She was afraid to try an "upside down" roller coaster, but her dad and I knew that she'd love it, so we didn't tell her it looped. She rode it and when it ended, she asked "did we go upside down?" I said yes. Sounding a little annoyed, she said "I thought so", but then quickly brightened up and screamed "That was awesome! Can we do it again?!!" :rotfl:

To many memories........I love most every minute of them.

Here are a couple:

2nd trip (kids had their own spending money) I had bought things at the Disney store to take for them like the light up spinning toys, etc. We were waiting for Spectromagic to start, sitting on the curb outside Casey's. All the little carts with the toys on them are in the center of the street. DS who was 6 looks at me and says, "mom, can I use some of my money and buy one of those roses for Alicia (his 2 year old sister). I still tear up when I think about that.

That same year we took my mom & dad along also (they had never been). Seeing them that first day at the Magic Kingdom.....jumping up there to get their pictures made with the characters.......it was great (they normally give you a fit about having their picture taken). My mom is real sick now so I am so happy we took that trip with them. The memories are something we will treasure forever.

I was fortunate enough to be able to take my parents to see "the world". They were never able to afford to take us as kids, and we did it up right...rooms at the Poly, character dining...the whole nine yards. Mom had been sick for a long time with major cardiac problems, and had been able to do very little for years, so my husband and I decided to make a happy memory. I'm so very glad we did. They had a ball, she was able to do much more than she ever thought she could. We truly relaxed, enjoyed, and shared in the joy that Disney can bring. I even had them do autograph books to bring home to my kids as a way to make them interact with the characters.
Mom died a number of years ago, but in that precious time we were able to return to being a family of just us. And it was one of the things we talked about during her final days...how much it meant to all of us. And now, when I return, I have those memories to relive. So. if you see a middle aged woman smiling through her tears while listening to the British Invasion, you just might be seeing me.

Aww... yours reminds me of another one of mine. Way back in February of '87 DH went for his first trip. He was 27. I remember him getting off Spaceship Earth and saying, "No one should have to wait until they are 27 to come here and see all this!"
:lovestruc Now we go at least 2 times a year.

I just thought of a few more wonderful memories.

This was probably in the late 90's. As we walked down Main Street, one of the greeters asked us if we wanted to be Grand Marshalls. We had never seen the parade so we didn't know quite what that meant, so we said no. That day we decided to stay for the parade and see what it is that Grand Marshalls do. It really looked like fun. The next day we went to City Hall and there we met Dean. We told him about refusing the day before and that we would love to do it if we could. He told us that he couldn't arrange it for that day, but the next day he had an opening. Oh we did have a ball. We got our Mickey ear hats with our names on them and Dean took so many pictures of us along the route. I had asked our friends at the Diamond Horseshoe to come out to see us and they were all out there waving at us. It was truly a magical memory. Now every year since then we stop and talk to Dean and I get a hug. That starts our vacation off to a great start.

Then there was the year that I bugged one of the ladies at the gate. Her name is Delores. We were always the first ones there, so we got friendly and always chatted. I started to bug her about opening the kingdom. I knew we couldn't do it because it's always a family. I kept telling her I was really just 3 1/2 but for some reason she didn't buy it. One day, another CM motioned to my DH to come over and talk to her. I was wondering what that was about, but DH said she just wanted to know how long we were staying. A few minutes later Delores comes over and asked if I would like to hold the little wand that she was going to give to the child she had chosen. So I started to wave it around. Then she told me I'd better hold this too. "This" was the document saying that we were going to open the Kingdom! I kept saying "HOW, HOW??" I was wondering how she got my last name and where we lived. I'm not too bright in the morning. After we got in and were given our Mickey confetti, it dawned on me that that was what my DH was telling the other CM. They said it was the first time they had gotten an older couple to open the Kingdom. We were the oldest "kids" to have that honor.

Tearing up on this one.:woohoo:

1. As a kid we went the first year WDW opened. My father -- aka The Funsucker -- managed to suck the fun out of it by refusing to let us go on most rides because he refused to ever wait in a line for anything. Yes, it was hugely disappointing. What I remember fondly about the trip was when we were walking around Cinderella's castle going one way and the dwarves were walking around going the other way and my mother and Sleepy (I think) bumped into each other and they both fell down and bounced on their bums. The dwarf who fell and the other dwarf with them made a big freakin' deal about it. It was hysterical.

2. During dd's first trip when she was 6, we got to MK earlier and a nice lady in line told us to go right over to Teacups because they'd have characters there. We had not done planning, so we didnt' know about autographs, so we had to run into the store and get the book/pen, then ran over to Teacups and amazingly, the lines were super short. Pluto made such a big deal over my dd, licking her autograph book and carrying on and I have great pictures.

3. This is one of my dd's favorite memories. We were going on Dinosaur. I am usually a pretty calm person, but going around the one corner where the dinosaur kinda jumps out over you, my 6 year old stays calm, while I shrieked to high heaven and tried to throw myself onto the floor. The photo is taken right then and you can't even see me. We still regret not buying that picture.

4. When dd was about 8, we went to Prime Time and had an awesome server (an older gentleman) and just had the best time there. We actually had another guest take our picture with the server. I always think we didn't leave enough of a tip, no matter how much we left. He made our entire day. I swear if I saw the guy again, I'd just walk up and hand him $50.

5. Again, on our first trip, we did the breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table. The whole experience was so wonderful. Dd was overwhelmed. I realized near the end that Jasmine had not come over and I looked around for her and I caught her eye as she had paused in the doorway to look around. She immediately came over and whispered to me that she had stopped because she was so afraid she'd forgotten someone and she said, "I would have just died if I'd forgotten some little girl's special moment. Just died. I'm so sorry she had to wait!" There was nothing to apologize over since she was there, but I always appreciated how she knew how important her job was.

You'll notice how most of these involve CMs -- no surprise. Thanks to all the wonderful CMs out there! I hope you know -- amongst the many guests who don't act nicely -- that there are those of us who truly value what you do and cherish the memories you give us and our children.

This is great.... that is what Disney is all about.... creating memories of loved ones that you will never forget.... I am glad you go to spend that precious time with your mother.....

I am glad I started this thread... I enjoy (as do others) reading this thread.... it makes all the money spent and all the sacrifices either we or our loved ones made in order for us to enjoy a trip to WDW..... please keep these memories coming to so the best things we endured while at WDW...
