Wow, I am really enjoying reading all these stories. I have a few memories of mine that I can share. (And a couple I can't
One is from our first trip. We did not know a thing about FW. We were just kind of exploring around the marina late on our arrival day. The kids were playing on the playground there and all of sudden the fireworks start. dh and I plopped down on the ground and enjoyed the view from the playground. I swear the trees outlined the fireworks in a heart shape.
I also remember later that week seeing the water pageant and the kids were playing in the sand making "sand angels". Hey, we are from New Orleans, they don't get to make them in the snow so this was neat for them. Had fun washing the sand out of their hair that night.
Another trip the 8 of us had dinner at the hoop dee doo. We were the closest table next to the stage other than the ones for 2 that touched the stage. We were celebrating my "21st" birthday. We were also there over Mardi Gras along with the entire audience from New Orleans. As the performers were going around saying where everyone was from they stopped at our table and asked us. We said NO and the whole cast made a big deal. They said "It seems like the whole audience here is from Louisiana." Then sang "They come from New Orleans, they've come to eat our beans." The whole audience went wild. We have it on video. Also, ds was wearing an Indiana Jones hat and Six Bits came up to him, pushed up the brim and said, "Did you know you look just like Norton." ds just stared at him blankly and Six Bits said, "Oh, you are too young huh." Turns out he did look like Norton. We still laugh about it. That night had many more individual moments, but I will shut up about that now.
Oh, one more thing is that when you check in, my kids are always amazed that the CMs know their names. They think it is so neat. The CMs always seem to peek into the van and call them each by name and give them those little coloring books. That is such an awesome way to start out a trip. Makes me want to come back again and again.
