I am cutting my calories with good success. I know I will be indulging in some cupcakes, main street bakery cookies.... while there for a week. So I need some help finding yummy, healthy lunches and dinners. We will do mostly CS lunches and TS dinners. I know what healthy food is, I just don't know where to find the good ones at WDW. What are your faves?

I had the same issue when we went earlier this month. I declared I would eat as healthy of meals as I could and then indulge on desserts (they are my favorite : ) ). So here were my favorites:

Columbia Harbor in MK-lighthouse sandwich was very good, I got it with a light strawberry yoplait. (I think this was my favorite CS)

I didn't go but I heard Sunshine Seasons in Epcot has lots of delicious and healthy options (veggie flatbread, goat cheese salad).

Starring Rolls was supposed to have a veggie sandwich, and I went at 12:00 and they were already out. So I wouldn't count on that...but they had some pretty mediocre sushi. (BUT TRY THE CUPCAKES!!)

Yak and Yeti in AK had a grilled chicken breast with tamarind sauce that came with veggies and jasmine rice (I subbed in brown rice with no problem)...this was a very delicious meal that I recommend.

Tokyo Dining in Epcot has good sushi, if you are into that.

Wolfgang Puck cafe had a very delicious spinach salad with apples, walnuts and cheese (you can get a meat on top to make it a full meal on you disney dining plan).

Otherwise, almost everywhere CS and TS has some type of basic salad with grilled chicken on top. But beware caesar salads, the dressing is full of fat!

I hope this helps, good luck on your healthy endeavors! But make sure you enjoy all the yummy goodies afterwards : ))))

are you bringing the kiddos too......if you are then I would try to do the buffet's at Crystal Palace, Chef Mickeys, Hollywood and vine, liberty tree tavern.......this way you can pick and choose what you want and your children can eat a good variety too and faster then waiting for it to come out of the kitchen...
We just returned two weeks ago and we did two breakfast character's and crystal Palace, and the luau.....the rest were either at our resort or at the parks...Kids ate good choices too.....
Have fun and remember you will be walking off the calories for sure.....

We ate at Sunshine Seasons for the first time in January. DH grew up always going there but my family passed it by every time. It was awesome. The goat cheese and beet salad was great and the rest of the salads looked really good, too. Even the not super healthy stuff was better than the typical CS meal. Sure, my sandwich had some mayo on it, but it also had tons of great veggies and was on freshly baked bread. It's good, real food.

Cosmic Ray's in MK has some great choices, too. The half rotisserie chicken with veggies instead of fries is a favorite of mine.

Personally, I focus on portion control and save calories where I can. For instance, I have breakfast in our room and eat only a Power Bar. I keep carrots and hummus in the cooler for healthy snacking and use the three-bite rule when it comes to desserts. I've also been known to order kids meals at CS.

Most buffets have lots of salad and fruit options plus lean meat. My favourite has to be Boma and all the family love dinner there too.

I am another poster who loves Sunshine Seasons. The choices there are healthy but delicious and varied. I also recall having a really delicious yogurt parfait one morning at Main Street Bakery.

Have you checked out the on-line restaurant menus that are available? They might give you some ideas on where to eat. Just click on the dining tab at the top of the page.

Sunshine seasons has some great options like everyone else has said. I usually try to stick to chicken or a wrap and always sub your side for fruit, yogurt or veggies- pretty much everywhere has healthy sub options. Just ask if you don't see any!

One word of warning is on salads... some people don't fully appreciate how many calories they can contain. A lot of times I'll go for a wrap or lean meat option before a salad just because I know how much they can hold. Toppings like walnuts, cheese, dried fruit, etc can add up even before you put dressing on it. I'm really into checking nutritional information of places before I go- and most of the time even without dressing, the salads end up being at the middle to top range of calories.

For example... a nearby chain has a salad with grilled salmon and hummus on it. WITHOUT dressing it contains over 2,000 calories :scared1:

Just keep an eye on what it's topped with... ;)

Don't stress too much about options if there's really nothing you like- get something you do (within reason) and work on portion control like Kay1 suggested :thumbsup2

Another thing is to take into account how strict you've been beforehand. One year I was being incredibly strict before I went (weeks without refined sugar, etc). I decided to get a chocolate dessert at CRT as a treat and felt soooo  I couldn't go on any rides after!

Thanks for all the good suggestions. I've never even seen Sunshine Seasons that I can recall, so we will defintitely give it a try.

Im doing calorie counting and cutting too (since sept 09 ive lost 80 lbs!) I did a quick february trip and didnt gain any weight actually lost weight, if i was going to get CS food I always asked what can I get instead of fries? Some places I got apple slices, some I got grapes and some I got carrots. For places that didnt have that option I asked for a kids apple sauce instead of fries. But cutting fries (at least 400 - 500 calories) It helped alot. If I got a cheeseburger sometimes id ditch the bun or if they only had a double I pulled off a patty etc (Though I went with a bottomless pit best friend). Really any place you guy you can say sauce on the sides, veggies instead of potatoes as a side and make it healthier!:) The cold sandwiches at Contempo Cafe were good and yummy and healthy. And the smoothies in magic kingdom are made woth non-fat dairy and average 200 - 300 calories so thats a good choice.

Good luck!
