I don't recall ever seeing this type of thread...

What is everyone's favorite or least favorite preshow...

Is there an attraction where you would just rather wait in line than to go through the preshow again?

I am not including themed queues like Space Mtn or Imagination.
My nonimations for favorite...

MGM...
Tower of Terror
Muppets

MK...
Haunted Mansion
Alien Encounter

Epcot...
none

AK...
can't say... only been once.

Least Favorite...

MGM
Rock n Rollercoaster

Epcot
Test Track... We use the presow to sneak over toward the opposite doors. Everyone squeezes to the front and we just lurk in the back and wander over to the exit doors.

MK
none

AK
none

I really like the Space Mountain preshow with the "windows with moving stars" and the TV Preshows.

I also like Haunted Mansion preshow, Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin and Star Tours.

Least favorite: That goofy slide show before Honey I Shrunk the Audience. Aargh!!

When my son was about a year old, he used to love the Enchanted Tiki Room (this was about 10 yrs ago so it was before the change). They had a silly pre-show about the Tiki Gods before you went into the Tiki Room. The show was pretty lame, I would vote it as the one I didnt like. The funny thing is that my son loved this pre-show, and he wouldnt understand why people talked during it. He would look at them and say "Shhhh, Tiki coming, Tiki coming!"

I am torn, I don't like the Honey I Shrunk The Kids one. I do like the Kodak picture show and music. I'd like it better if there were somewhere to sit during it. It is alittle long for a preshow.
I like the TOT one, it gets the adrenaline going.

Dh LOVES that Kodak slide show before "Honey I Shrunk the Audience." I think that's really strange because he always hated that song. I guess there's no accounting for taste.;)

We find that the pre-shows are some of our favorite things about the World. We've been fortunate enough to go alot the past few years, and we have started noticing some of the great pre-show entertainment. Here's our favorites....

MGM
-Beauty and the Beast: "Four For A Dollar" a capella group, we bought their CD and love it (only there about 5 days).
-Muppets 3D: Funnier than the actual show.
-Hunchback (closed): I LIKED the juggler, my wife HATED it, oh well.
-Tower of Terror: LOVE the faded music in the line, LOVE the library show, LOVE the boiler room look.

AK
-It's a Bug's Life: Listen to the bumble bee renditions of broadway hits.

EPCOT
-The American Adventure: "Voices of Liberty" and "American Vybe" a capella groups are amazing.
-Test Track: At least the first time I saw it. Pretty old now.
-Universe of Energy: Kind of fun to think of Einstein getting smoked on Jeopardy.

MK
-Haunted Mansion: "Kindly drag your retched bodies....."

Here's our HONORABLE MENTION list:

MGM
-Star Tours: I like to see Chewbaca being told to fasten his seat belt.
-Fantasmic
-Rock'n'Roller Coaster: Kind of lame story, but the sound system is great.

EPCOT
-Food Rocks: Yeah!

MK
-Jungle Cruise: Love the signs.

Here's our LEAST favorites:

EPCOT
-Living Seas: Even science class wasn't THIS boring.

MGM
-Little Mermaid's Voyage

AK
-Kilamanjaro's Safari: "Beware of da poachers." I do realize that poaching is a real problem, but come on.

Least favorite: preshow for Backstage Studio Tours. It's OK once but after that there is nothing to see....no great detail like most WDW attractions.

YES!!! I second Dr.Mickey!! These are the best in the "world".

My favorite preshows are Tower of Terror, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, and Cranium Command, and Rock n Roller Coaster.

I can't really think of any least favorites.

I would have to say that the pre-shows are what seperate Disney from the competition: They set you up for the theming and story of the ride, they immerse you in an idea which acts to suspend disbelief and cynicism when the attraction starts. I would say that the queues for most rides are a part of the pre-show......Having said that:

Good Ones:

Magic Kingdom

Space Mountain - It is an awesomely themed beginning, the best part is the subtle, 1970s psychadelic space music. It calms you, shows you neat photos and stirs your imagination

Tiki Room - The new pre-show is my favorite in all the world because it stars the late Phil Hartman. He's very funny, and recorded this shortly before he was murdered. It is bittersweet for those who were a fan of his work, as I was. I'm glad they kept it, as there was some talk about changing it after he died.

Thunder Mountain - I remember being a kid and roaming through the wood work at night with my family just before closing and feeling like I was in a different world. It was so neat, even the smells were different.

MGM

Rock N' Roller Coaster - Maybe you have to be a fan of Aerosmith, but I love seeing the guys all happy and not strung out on Heroin and Coke. Lots of fun.

Star Tours - I love the queue for this attraction, all the droids and interstellar announcements just make it so cool and exciting.

Tower of Terror - 'Nuff said, the best theming of any ride in the kingdom. The boiler room is magnificent.

Epcot

El Rio Del Tiempo - I love the atmosphere in the temple, the dusk, the smells, the market, sets you up very well.

Animal Kingdom

Kali River Rapids - All the stuff on the way in is so cool, and so authentic. It is really a marvel that they put so much work into the line area.

Bad Ones:

Magic Kingdom

Most of Fantasyland - Just a line before the ride....

Buzz Lightyear - So cool the first time, then instantly painful and repetitive whenever you go on it again....

MGM

None...

Epcot

Honey I Shrunk The Audience - Wow is that video ever painful. It just shows shots of beautiful people living beautiful lives. Not very realistic and hard to sit/stand through.

Animal Kingdom

Safaris - They could have done so much with this, but I was pretty bored.

On the whole I love the pre-shows and queueing areas, they are what puts Disney over the top, IMHO.

I like the preshow for Alien Encounter, and (of course) the Haunted Mansion's 'Stretching Rooms.'

Probably my favorite is the Voices of Liberty at The American Adventure in Epcot. Technically not a pre-show I guess, but they are wonderful, and very friendly.

Muppets, Tower of Terror and Haunted Mansion are very cool.

Favs:
Alien Encounter
Universe of Energy
Star Tours
Muppet Vision
Bug's Life

Least Favs:
Test Track (Once is enough)

Voices of Liberty are my absolute favorite. They are all so sweet. I sometimes go and just sit at EPCOT all day to hear them and talk to my buddies in the group. Great show. I used to love the pre-show at Tower of Terror, but now its boring and people get mad at me cuz I say all the words with the movie. I HATE the preshows at Rock-n-Roller and Test Track. Oh, I love the movie thing on Great Movie Ride. I think that is all.

IMHO

The best preshow was Matt the Juggler @ The Hunchback Show. I have several pictures of him over the years.

2nd best--The Muppets

The worst The Tiki Room

But I do get dizzy looking out the "windows" in the Space Mountain queue (not that that keeps me from riding)

I don't blame them for getting mad at you, it's a pretty rude thing to do.

We absolutely loved the man who did the juggling before the Hunchback show. We were crushed when the show was cancelled because we wondered how we could see him perform again. Lo and behold, one night last summer, we were strolling on the Boardwalk, and who was there performing?! The juggler from the Hunchback show!! He was very entertaining, and even tried to teach our (then) 3 year old DS how to juggle.

We are also BIG fans of 4 for a Dollar before the Beauty and the Beast show. There are times that I have wanted to leave after they finished their performance!!

MK Favorites: Pirates, HM

MK Least: Country Bears

Epcot Favorite: Energy with Ellen

Epcot Least: None

Disney Studios Favorites: Muppets, Rockin Roller, ToT

Disney Studios Least: Backlot Tour

AK Favorites: Tough to be a Bug, Dino Adventure (Can't think of the name)

AK Least: Train Ride (Sorry about the last items, I have only been to AK once and can't remember the names)

While I'm thinking about it (off the thread slightly) I have a problem with all the Disney veterans that go to the Country Bears Show and then stamp their feet and clap their hands through the songs. It is sort of a cult thing but I brought a "first timer" with me last year and they couldn't hear the music or the words being sung. Please think about the ones that don't have it memorized.

My faves are:

Muppet 3D (MGM)
Cranium Command (Epcot)
Haunted Mansion (MK)
Universe of Energy (Epcot)
