Whats your favorite grocery store?? Publix? Winn Dixie?? Could you also give directions. Thanks, we're staying at BCV. :flower:

I love shopping at Winn Dixie when I am in Florida. Unfortunately I can't help you with directions because my first trip to WDW isn't until October this year. I would also like directions to a Winn Dixie from SSR if anyone can help with that. TIA

We like winn-dixie. It's very easy to get too. From BCV, just head towards DTD, get onto vacation club way, past OKW, past SSR, take a right at Tee. At intersection where you can see Once upon a toy store on your right, hang a left. Winn Dixie is maybe 1 mile on your right.

Editied to add, you can go on-line and send away for a 'rewards card' from winn-dixie, which will give you some discounts on purchases.

Publix is our favorite. I have been in the grocery business for 23yrs.
Publix would be my dream job if we were to move to Florida--I'm a produce manager. Publix is one of the top grocery chains in the country.
We went to try Winn Dixie(1 of their new stores) one time while we were in Orlando and all the managers were sitting up front on a bench when you walked in the store doing nothing to keep their jobs. The store was EMPTY of customers. That tells me that they were not trying to "take a lemon and make lemonade" out of their situation.

If no one replies, i can find out - - My DH does all the shopping and he insists on going to Publix.

We looked for the Publix for our last trip, but ended up at the Winn Dixie for the major groceries and Goodings for some sinus medicine. Directions would be great!

btw - the Winn Dixie was plenty clean and well stocked and was just fine. Goodings looked very nice, but its my understanding that they are much more expensive than the WD right down the street.

To Publix:
Go past DTD. At stoplight that is at the end of DTD, veer to the right (you will now be on Hotel Plaza Dr.). You will go past all of the hotels until you come to Hwy. Straight ahead will be Crossroads center, but you will be going to the right. 2 lanes will turn right, but it is best to be in the left one of these lanes because you will soon be turning left at Vineland (just under I-4). On Vineland go past the Premium Outlet Mall (or stop for bargains :)), go past Dixie Stampede and soon you will see Publix on the left.

aaaahhhhh - no wonder I couldn't find it on our last trip! Thanks. :wave2:

Publix used to be our favorite, but we changed this past December. We go to Sams Club first and then to Super Target. Great selection and prices. Oh, and the gas at Sams is pretty reasonable too! :wave2:

We have only shopped at the Winn Dixie. If you are at the light where Crossroads Plaza is in front of you, turn left at that light (right at the end of WDW property) and it is a mile down the road. There is a liquior store in thei parking lot in front of the store, so its a little hidden at first.

We have always been very happy going there. :sunny:

We've done Albertson's on the way from the airport to WDW and been very pleased with their quality, selection and prices. Figure on using wegoshop.com this trip and having them shop at Albertson's for us.

We always use the Winn-Dixie by Crossroads. I have the shopper card.

While my DD and I were driving around on our last day of our trip in March, we found another grocery store (Publix, I think) fairly near BCV and we didn't have to drive through all the traffic around DTD.

If I remember correctly, I took a right out of the BC, then a left at the Hess gas station, then a right toward Pop Century. At the light past POP, we took another left and then a right by Gaylord Palms. I'm not exactly sure but I was thinking the grocery store (Publix or maybe it was Albertson's) was just past there on the left. It looked nice and pretty new from the outside. We hope to give it a try on our trip next month. Does anyone know the grocery store I'm talking about?

Thanks!

Donna

We usually shop at the above-mentioned Winn-Dixie also but the SAM's and Super Target are wonderful!! Here are directions to those in case anyone is interested: at the end of Hotel Plaza Blvd (Goodings/Crossroads is directly across the road) turn RIGHT. Follow this road (rt 535) until it dead-ends into route 192. Turn LEFT. Sams and Super Target are just a short way down the road on the LEFT. If you want to go to the huge Wal-Mart, just continue past SAMS for several miles and WalMart will be on your RIGHT. The traffic on route 192 is nasty though--so be forewarned.

Wow! Wish I had seen or started this thread before we went on our first trip "home" to the BCVs last week. We drove around for days looking for a grocery store! Ended up at a Super Target - I think :confused3

We decided that next trip we'd do the www.wegoshop.com thing, but I think if I save these great suggestions and directions, we'll be OK trying to go it on our own again. Great post. Thanks!

A couple of years ago our towncar driver took us Albertson's on Orange Blossom where we got a rewards card and we used them for several trips. You can fax your order to them with an approximate arrival time and the order is kept in a cold room and rung up when you arrive. Our last trip we really streamlined everything. We sent most of our clothing via UPS, had only 2 small carry ons and used wegoshop.com. We were out of the airport in no time and at the resort within an hour! Our groceries arrived on schedule once we had our room.
The return trip home was as easy. Front desk printed our boarding passes, bellservices took our UPS "luggage" and we were in and out of the airport at home in no time. Love bypassing baggage claim!

Great info, everyone thanks for sharing. I already ordered my Winn Dixie card. I remember last trip we stopped at a BJ's that had a gas station. But I looked on their website and I'm not too shore which one it was.

Can you get the Publix discount card online too?

Publix doesn't have discount cards. It is their campaign right now - no cards...just service (or something like that). I hate those shopper cards!
