Favorite Good Neighbor hotel???

Have you looked at The Anaheim? (formerly Anaheim Plaza) It has a huge (olympic size) pool and I believe it is heated. We've stayed there several times and enjoyed it. You can see the fireworks from the pool as well which is fun to do if you go back to the room tired one day. It is very easy walking distance.

Getaway today usually has some decent prices for the same hotels

My friend lives in LA and freq books this hotel for DL weekends. My daughter and I are going in Sept. and meeting up with her, we all booked here. I booked the direct booking price, 15% off. I'll have to check it against the 4th night free rate! When I booked I had to ask for the direct rate, thought that was odd since I was booking direct it woukd automatically be given to me. Their booking is done off site. Booking agent I spoke with didn't know too much about hotel.
We are paying $606/7 nights. Going in Sept.

Candy Cane Inn. Beautiful grounds, decent breakfast, shuttle, and about two blocks away!

Do you guys think staying at the Howard Johnson with the water park is worth paying more? We have a 6 and 2 year old so paying premium to be just a few minutes closer may be necessary at the end of the day. Or we can book the Desert Palms.
