We are into the final shifting of our ADRs and were wondering....What would be your favorite gluten free dinner at Disney? Food plus overall experience considered.:thumbsup2

We have ADRs for Chef Mickey, Crystal Palace, Hollywood and Vine, 50's Prime Time, 'Ohana and California Grill. Our DD is 16 and this is her first trip to Disney on a gluten free diet.

We are excited but still a little nervous about eating in restaurants all week!!

Try not to worry. You're in excellent hands! My DS12 is GF & has been enjoying trips to WDW for the last 6 years. Never had a problem or even a stomach ache. Places we love are Kona Cafe, Jiko, Le Cellier, & Boma although we haven't been there for awhile now that both kids are "disney adults". Too expensive. Pretty much every TS restaurant we've been to has done an excellent job. The chef has always come to the table to discuss DS's options. Some chefs are better then others. A few have seemed less then enthusiastic but they're the exception not the rule. Your DD should always have several choices.

Quick service is a little harder. You'll need to speak to a manager to get your food ordered. Ask for the manager right away. For whatever reason they need to be the one that enters the order into the register. Be prepared to wait. They obviously prepare the GF foods separately & it can take awhile. The manager at Pinocchio's Village Haus is particularly helpful. He has always taken our order & instead of making me stand to the side waiting & waiting he always offers to bring the food to our table when it's ready. A very nice Disney touch.

If you haven't done it already be sure to email the special diets department for a list of all the GF foods available at the parks & resorts & where to get them.

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks so much for your response! Yes we are looking forward to a vacation without a belly ache!! We did 2 Adventures by Disney and she had been very ill during those vacations prior to diagnosis.

We have sent our reservations to special diets but will send a final list with any changes. I have not asked for a list of available foods. We are staying club level and the chef from the Yacht Club is planning to contact us before our trip.

Counter service will be a little tricky I know because DD hates when we have to wait or we make any issue about needing different food. She always wants to just get a dry salad and forget it. Not this trip!:thumbsup2 I do have my list of counter service places/ideas for gluten free.

DD saw pictures of the Gluten free fried chicken at the 50's Prime Time Cafe and said we should eat there all week!! :rotfl2:

Anywhere where Chef TJ's working :thumbsup2. I think he's at 1900 Park Faire right now. Of course, it's hit or miss as to whether or not he'll be working the day you go. --Katie

Good choices! You have several of my favorites on your ADR list!! I love California Grill (they have really good sushi, if you like that sort of thing). Ohana is one of my hands down favorites and so is 50's Prime Time. I could eat at either of those two restaurants all the time! Chef Mickey's is pretty good (and they will make a lot of stuff in the back for you too), as is Crystal Palace (and they have a housemade chocolate cake that's awesome--at least they did a few years ago).

I've been dining at WDW with allergies for over 3 1/2 years, and I've never been sick from the food there. The chefs and managers there are very diligent about cross-contamination.

Have a blast! :thumbsup2

We are less than 2 weeks away from our trip and DD is very excited to eat out and have choices!! Thanks for the responses about how well the chefs handle the allergy. I am going to try to really relax and enjoy eating out!!

She is not a sushi fan but DS and I are looking forward to it. Unfortunately, she has never liked chocolate...I know a girl who doesn't need a chocolate fix! :confused3 It is too bad because many of the gluten free desserts seem to have chocolate/brownies. She does love white chocolate!

We were looking at Kouzzina today for another alternative because so many people have raved about service with gluten free needs. We have never eaten there and love the Boardwalk area since we are staying at the BC. We might just have to try it. I am a little surprised about the availability of open ADRs. It is just making me look look and look again!

I really like Kouzzina for breakfast! It's one of my favs. They have really good scrambled eggs and great allergy friendly Mickey waffles. I've never been there dinner, but I also hear they are very good with allergies for dinner as well. Chef George is really great there!

Well, we were able to change the time for the California Grill to earlier...so we are going there! I can't believe we have been able to shift reservations so late before our trip. Maybe it won't be that crowded the last week of July into August!! :rotfl2:

Bring on the Gluten Free Dining! Yahoo!:yay:

Thanks to everyone for all the information regarding gluten free dining at Disney. We will be sure to report back after our trip!
