After being on 5 DCL cruises, this upcoming cruise in February will be our first time on the Disney Magic. Just wondering what everyone's favorite part of sailing on the Magic is ? We cant wait

AquaDunk!

My dad is all "Yes I'll do that!!" He'll be 75. LOL. I think when he actually sees it - not just the video I showed him - he'll change his mind. The Duck is one thing (though I will miss laughing at my mom trying to get out of the raft and then laughing so hard she CAN'T). The Dunk seems to be something else all together. *I'm* not even sure I want to do it!!

  • Aqua dunk was one and done for me.glad to have tried but not my cup of tea. Favorite things for me are shorter character meet and greet lines, ease of navigation onboard, less people and a fun pirate show.

Yes! Less people!. I found character greets the same at leasr on our sailing but castaway cay had way less people.
I feel the same way about Aqua dunk...

It's the original and first Disney ship (sort of like Disneyland's Magic Kingdom is the original and first Disney theme park).

It's smaller than the Dream and Fantasy (fewer pax, easier and quicker to get around).

Castaway Cay is much less crowded with the Magic (and Wonder) in port than the Dream and Fantasy.

But my most favorite part of sailing on the Magic is... sailing on the Magic!

My favorite experience on the Magic? - walking up the gangway on our first ever DCL cruise (on the Magic). I grabbed my husband's arm and shrieked "We're going on a cruise!!!!!!!!!"

The adult pool, After Hours, AquaDunk, and definitely less people (particularly at Castaway!). The Magic's my favorite ship... I'll be on her this time in 3 weeks :)

My recommendation for people trying out the AquaDunk - wear a bathing shirt!!! I went on it maybe 5 times during my Magic cruise and while it's very fun, I found I could easily feel the joins between the tubes and because you're basically falling at quite a speed... well, my back got pretty scratched up.

Also don't be surprised that for grown ups the CM in charge might "pick on" you! The countdown is completely independent from the platform dropping, when I rode it the CM would do things like pretend the platform was broken and then release it some 5 or so seconds after the countdown, or if I closed my eyes would wait until the moment I opened them to release it.

The CM doing that to me on the aqua dunk would mess with my head lol.
Luckily this didn't happen to me, but I bet they don't play tricks on super nervous first-timers ;)
What I didn't like about the aqua dunk was the fact that going down the water was going up my nose... I couldn't catch me breath, just didn't enjoy it at all. I don't know if I did something wrong but I got off and decided once was enough.

Personally I'm not a fan of the ship, but Tangled is wonderful. I'm a little embarrassed to say that we're sailing again in January just to see it.

Questions:
-is the Magic the only ship that shows Tangled? Or does it depend on itinerary?
-how would you say the Magic is different from the Wonder?
Is there a different "feel" to these two?

Yes, the shows vary - by ship. On the Magic shows are Tangled, Twice Charmed and Disney's Dreams
On the Wonder the shows are Golden Mickey's, Disney's Dreams and (when she returns to service ) Frozen (replacing Toy Story).

There may be a different "feel" in that the decor and some of the actual venues are themed differently, but the basic ship lay out is identical.

On our first cruise we were cruising with someone who had just completed a contract as a CM in the kids clubs. One night at dinner she had a friend still working in the club join us for dinner (with permission). The servers had booster seats, kids menus and crayons at the seats for both of them. It was just FUN. MY DIL heard the story and when we cruised with her and our DS, she asked for kids menus and colors so we all could color and play the games on the menu. Silly but fun.

I've done two transatlantic cruises on the Magic and my favorite experience would be the bridge tour which I did on my first Disney Cruise on the Magic in 2010.
