Favorite Entree at Flying Fish

What is your fav. entree at Flying Fish and what about it is so yummy?

Looking at the menu, I can't decide between the potato crusted snapper, the scallops or the salmon?

I have had both the snapper and the scallops (not at the same meal, lol) and they are both excellent. It would be tough to decide between the two regarding which is the best. I am not a fan of salmon so can't help you with that entree.

I've tried both the snapper and the scallops, and both were fantastic. If I had to choose one I'd pick the scallops as the risotto they are served on is just unbelivable.

The snapper is excellent! So are the scallops--but there are only 3 of them, so if you are a big eater you may be disappointed (as I was the one time I ordered them).
If by chance you like steak, the char crusted NY Strip is also excellent!!!

The scallops are great with a nice wood smoke grilled flavor. They're usually a nice size and are cooked perfectly med rare. My fave new addition is their pork though.

3 Scallops?? How big are they? Does it fill you up?

How do they prepare the snapper - is it like mashed potatoes or thin slices, is it seasoned, crispy?

I love steak but we are doing Le Cellier - do they compare or are they very different?

I guess the Salmon is not very popular - but I'm still totally confused.

Any appetizer or dessert suggestions?

Scallops are my favorite, and yes they fill you up. The seasonal risottos are amazing.

Hubby loves the new york strip (sauce on the side).

DW had the snapper once and we both thought it was good, but rather bland/boring.

The scallops with seasonal risotto is always great.

Our favorites apps are the calamari and mussels.

entrees, rated in order of preference (mine):

1) snapper
2) snapper
3) snapper

OK, so the snapper was so good the first time we went there that we ordered it the 2nd or 3rd time, so I cant tell you about the other things. But that snapper really was GOOD!

Have fun at the FF -- the restaurant is really nice!

No offense to my friend Webray, but no, they don't fill you up. Well-at least they don't fill me up!! 5 would be a proper serving for the size you get. They aren't small, but hardly gargantuan. They are tasty though.
The steak is sort of Pittsburgh style--charred almost black on the outside, but done as ordered inside. And as Webray suggests get the sauce on the side. They cover the steak with it and if by some chance you don't like it--

The scallops were a big enough portion for me, but I don't have a big appetite.

I love the Salmon, I know you can have it anywhere, but they have the wild salmon and it is yummy. Overall I have enjoyed everything they have to offer.

My favorite is the potato-wrapped snapper. It's a very nice piece of fish, and I love the leeks that come with it.

I loved your review of Flying Fish and all the others from your trips.

I was totally thinking of the pumpkin cheesecake and it looks yummy - did you like it enough to order it again?

No I would not order the pumpkin again, it just wasnt sweet enough for a dessert.

Potato crusted snapper. It's amazing. The wine reduction and the leek fondue are outstanding. It is not an easy dish to make...I obtained the recipe and my DH (culinary school graduate) made it for me. The sauce alone takes several hours to do properly.
