Favorite DVC Villa

I am planning a trip back to Disney for our 1-year anniversary in October and want to rent points like I have done in the past. I stayed at BCV for our honeymoon, which I LOVED, and OKW in March which was nice atmosphere but too far away from everything and the resort was too spread out. Just wanted some opinions on which villa (we will be staying in a studio) is your favorite. How is the Boardwalk pool? Is preferred view that much better than getting a standard view? How are the AKV? Is there a lot of noise from construction? What about WL? Any opinions are welcome! I am having a hard time deciding if I want to go back to the wonderful Beach Club or try a different one!

I think its fun to try new resorts. We joined DVC in 2005 and stayed at the Boardwalk for our first trip to the world as DVCer's. We got the preferred view, which I wouldn't necessarily use the extra points for again unless I could be guaranteed a BW view. Our preferred view was nice enough, it was of the water way that runs between the BW and the Dolphin and Swan hotels. We could see ToT. We are going back in October and staying at our home resort...Saratoga. We'd like to try them all at some point. Have fun choosing and have a great trip!:)

You should post this on the DVC boards you would get a lot of replies.

I love VWL, BCV, and BW. The BW is nice, and it has a cool slide, but the pool layout is nothing like BC's Stormalong Bay. I love VWL because I think it is quiet and Romantic I like the way you can watch the water parade while sitting on the beach at night. I also like that it is off the beaten path, but yet close to MK.

BCV is nice as well. Have not stayed at AKV yet

Boardwalk's standard view is of the driveway and the back area facing the parking lot and tennis court. It is the closest point to Hollywood Studios. I have stayed in a Standard View three times, and I like it. I had a PV right in the courtyard area once, and that was also cool.

If you're talking about this October, your choices are going to be pretty limited. The Food & Wine Festival is very popular with DVC members, and BWV and BCV were completely booked months ago. I tried to book BCV for October way back in March, and there were no villas available at all.

WL is also going to be fairly difficult, as it's a very small resort. Not sure about AKV availability.

Your best chances will be at SSR or OKW, as they're the largest.

At any rate, you need to start looking for an owner ASAP.

As Lynn pointed out October is a very busy month. I know for a fact that BW and BC are sold out. AKL has limited availability but SSR was pretty open. There's roofing work being done on the Boardwalk Inn side but there really was no noise.

I personally love the Boardwalk. I like a boardwalk preferred view. There's something that I love about having coffee early in the a.m. on the balcony and watching the boardwalk "wake up". My second choice is SSR when we want to "relax". It's not in the middle of all the action, but it still has that Disney magic about it.

I've never been to the others. Sadly, we have no desier to stay anywhere else!! :confused3 Maybe in a few years we will.

But if you have any plans on going in October you need to find someone to rent you points NOW. Too bad I just rented my SSR points or I would try to help you. Maybe next time.

Good luck!!:thumbsup2

Unfortunately, I don't know how we will be able to go to Disney for our 1-year..... =( Everything is already booked, my fault with waiting too long.....

I think its a very personal preference on what DVC resort you will like. You MAY encounter construction views or sounds at AKV...there are no guarantees on that. We do love the resort though (our home). BCV, well, we would buy there if we ever decided to add on another DVC resort-the locale, size and decor really do it for us. We like WLV's also...we like the escape from the norm there. I think most of the resorts are gorgeous so its about what you are looking for. Personally, we love OKW, but we always have a car, so being away from it all didn't bother us. You have to factor in what matters to you. If you know you'll be happiest at BCV and are hesitant about the others, then stick with what you know. No shame in that! :goodvibes

Keep checking back-things open up all the time. :thumbsup2

Check the DVC Rent Board - maybe someone will have a reservation for "rent" around the time you want to go. It may not be the exact date, but you can still celebrate.

Good luck...
