Favorite DVC Hack?

We were allowed to use the luggage carts on both end of our trip in November at Bwv. We did have to go find it ourself because they were all out.

I do something similar to the Kroger idea. Meijer has been running $5 off your next purchase on $50 in GC, up to $50 back per account. I have 2 accounts, so $1,000 in GC for $1,000 plus $100 off my next Meijer purchase. My Sears Mastercard is offering 10x bonus points for grocery purchases up to $1,500( plus the normal 1 point), so 11x1,000 points=11,000 points. They also offered 7500 bonus points for a $1,000 purchase during a date range, so I racked up 18,500 thank you points. They are running 10% off gift cards in redemption right now, so $200 in Lowe's gift cards ended up free(18000 points), and I still have 500 points left. So my $1,000 Disney gift card purchase got me $100 off the next purchase at Meijer and $200 in Lowe's gift cards, with 500 points left.

This was something I was hoping to try but never have done personally. On boards I somehow got impression there may be issues doing this splitting stay (thought I had heard it works wirh single night in separate booking category but not same). Can you confirm if it’s possible to do this with single room type booked in two bookings and just requesting to stay in same room?
Yes, our stays mostly use at least 3-4 different Memberships (2 weeks in a BWV Standard 1 bdrm), & we haven't ever had to change rooms. Just ask Member Services to mark them as a continuing stay, & reiterate that at check-in. The only difficulty is that the Dining reservation window is 60 days from the first night of each stay, but I've still managed to get all the reservations I wanted.
Just realize that if you are using a single Membership (we've done that also), that first night has to be different (i.e., change one name to a nickname, etc), else Member Services may combine the reservations.

Push those occupancy limits! So they don’t want to provide sheets and blankets for that 5th person legally allowed to stay in the room? Bring a sleeping bag!
We’re getting our $$’s worth!
Please keep in mind that those occupancy rules are imposed by the fire marshal, not Disney

We rarely stay on the weekend due to higher points

We always eat breakfast in our room. Something quick like bagels.
We always bring nuts, granola bars etc and water bottles into the park.

We order water Bottles (during hot months they really add up); snacks breakfast and alcohol (my 20 something’s found this WAY cheaper) from Amazon. They will buy a case of 8-10 Whiteclaws for $12 instead $9 ish for 1 at the pool bar. (I don’t remember the exact prices but it was a significant savings with 2 of them imbibing!

I have done the 1 night DDP as earlier poster said. There was us and another couple. We shared 1 appetizer had them pack the other 3 to go, each couple shared a meal (and had 1 each packed to go) and had dessert packed to go. The amount of food was crazy. We snacked for a few days. And that was just 1 meal. We would never get DDP for our entire trip but will occasionally get it if I add a day :)

We always used ME and never rent a car. the new shuttles are still cheaper than a rental car for us.

We like eating at Earl of Sandwich at DS for a quick meal

i try to remember to ask for DVC, AP or Chase discounts. They are generally the same but at times one is better than the others.

Merry Xmas Eve to all!!

Last minute shopping at Costco this morning: I find a cute Baby Emma doll with outfit and bed and 'stuff' for 20.99. Bought one and a play tent. Already have other toys and gifts.

So, turns out both grands wanted this doll when they saw it in store. So, back to Costco I go, but sold out! I'll have to use the dreaded 'share' word. They are pretty good at sharing but sometimes they want the same things at the same time.

Later DD calls me back and she had gotten a call that youngest grand had been exposed to a preschool teacher who tested positive. Granddaughter woke up this morning feeling a little sick. I had them both overnight while DD was in hospital on Wednesday night, had picked them up early Wed morning. She had been to preschool (private church based) on Monday and Tuesday.

DD took her for a test and will get results late tonight, but, the statement was, she's already showing symptoms. She will be 5 in January so no vaccine yet. So prayers that this doesn't affect her too much and that we all don't come down with it. DD is quarantining with them and won't be coming here as planned tomorrow.

Sorry to burden you all with this story, but it's been sort of a rough week for DD's family, and of course, we feel for them as they are family.

So I hear there is a new holiday.....happy merry Christmas new year....Getting very popular. We are waiting it out not for covid, already tested for that, but for flu. DD doesn't want to risk DH at all. Hope everyone is ok on your end.

Last week, my grandsons were coughing, hacking etc. Had both rapid and the other one (I forget the letters) and both were negative.

Thank you both for the kind responses! I meant to post this on the Community Board, and clicked open the wrong tab.

Sorry about hijacking the thread by accident and Merry Christmas to all.

I hope so; I was referring to those who add more people than occupancy. In an emergency, rescue may not look for people not on the reservation.
Cops or Firefighters would not be aware of the number of occupants listed on a reservation.
Searches of every room in a affected area would be conducted.
They will also check rooms listed as in unoccupied.

Right ....Cops/Firefighters are clearing rooms in an emergency regardless of how many the reservation might say are supposed to be there.
