We have never done TS at DHS, but in December we're doing the extra CL FP+ which includes reserved seating for shows, so we are going to stay to see Fantasmic for the first time. Sooooo where should we eat dinner? 2 adults, one new 5 year old. He's not that picky of an eater as long as there is chicken somewhere.

<<<< food is OK, but the atmosphere is incomparable. Brown derby's food quality is better. Prime time is a one and done, for some reason it annoys me now.

I gotta say that I like all of the table service options at Hollywood. The Sci-Fi would be my least favorite as far as food is concerned. It's not bad, just average. The atmosphere is really unique and fun.
The one place that we go to on every single trip to Disney is the "50's Prime Time Cafe". We just like the food there. The fried chicken dinner is very good. Then there is the Brown Derby as others have mentioned. We also have enjoyed Mama Melrose.

Personally for me I find 50's Prime Time Cafe, Brown Derby and Mama Melrose to all be mediocre at best. I just don't eat TS when at the Studios. I usually get a nice breakfast, often it's at Cape May then spend the day at the Studios, catch a nice dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse or Flying Fish and then head back to the Studios for the evening.

What time do you leave for dinner to come back for Fantasmic then?

I think most dining ar DHS is forgettable. I do like the food at Prime Time, and my husband LOVES Mama Melrose but I'm not sure why.

HBD is our go-to at DHS. It was one of our best meals on our last trip in Dec. (beat Cali Grill by a mile). I would have to disagree with PP on leaving DHS to go to Yachtsman or Flying Fish. Not that there is anything wrong with those restaurants, but, the last time we ate at FF, it was a 3 hour meal. It's just not worth leaving DHS to do that if you are planning on going back to DHS for Fantasmic.

Brown Derby is the best food at HS. Not sure if your 5 yo would enjoy, you know best.
Sci Fi is a lot of fun. You sit in a car and watch bad sci fi movies. Kids love it!

I don't always watch Fantasmic when I'm at HS, but when I do I usually catch dinner around 4:00-5:00 PM which gives me plenty of time to watch Fantasmic when I do watch it.

We like sci-Fi best. Fun atmosphere , good burgers and shakes. As long as your little one isnt afraid of the dark he will think it is really cool to eat in a car. I had to explain to mine about drive in movies though :)

Sci Fi. The theming is the best of any restaurant in WDW, IMO.

How dark is it? and how "scary" are the shows? Rides are touch and go for him, so I'm not sure eating in the dark for a long time would be his favorite. Like I know for sure TRex is not for us...

We've enjoyed all but our family favorite is Sci-Fi! Great burgers and fun atmosphere!
