My mother made these stained glass ornaments when she was pregnant with me. I admired them for years and then when I moved out, I asked her if I could have them. They are now on my tree, and I was so excited last year when I found more at Michael's so I could replace the ones that were broken. These aren't the plastic ornaments, they're actually metal and colored glass. They're gorgeous!

The 2 my dh made when he was in 3rd grade.

The angel that's on my Christmas tree. It's been around as long as I have. It's old, but still so pretty (and luckily still lights up).

A Father Frost type of large Santa that we got on vacation in July 1996 in Houston Texas! It was on big time sale so we could afford it. Handmade and beautiful! I just love it!

Favorite ornaments: a baby's first Christmas large locket with DD20's baby pic.;

an ornament with a blond haired little boy and a brown haired older (but still little) girl in cut out brass looking out a big window for Santa.... my DD and DS were just like that then!

all the handmade school ornaments

and 2 sand dollar painted ornaments of the Gazebo at the Battery here in Charleston. It's where DH and I were married. Our first Christmas together we (unknowingly) each game the other the same ornament, although each was painted with a different season!

all of our "vacation" ornaments from our travels!

I have two favorites. The first is a nativity set my parents brought back from a trip to Mexico about 25 years ago. It’s very simple, but also colorful and the faces of the figures are so sweet and happy. I just love to look at it!

The second is my “secret” favorite. It’s sappy and corny and most people would probably throw it in the trash. (At least one or two of my sisters would have, for sure.) Anyway, it’s this really goofy, plastic elf face. It’s made to hang on the wall or something (we used to put in on an inside doorknob). There’s a string to pull at the bottom and it plays “Silent Night.” I don’t know why, but I have always loved that thing. I LOVE it so much that, years ago, I secretly hid it in a very, very safe place--safe from my non-sentimental sisters. For some odd reason, that silly elf just means Christmas to me. (BTW, after I post this, I’m going to find him, pull the string to hear “Silent Night,” and probably shed a tear or two of joy.)
