I was just thinking about the souvenirs I'd like to get while on the ship -- t-shirts, key chain, antenna toppers. And I was wondering what everyone else's favorite souvenir(s) are. Since this is our first cruise I'd like a head's up. :)

AND...any children resulting from a cruise do not count!! LOL! :p

I always get a DCL beach towel...they come out with new designs all the time!! I also love my resin ship model of the Magic that the Captain signed!!! And, I always get a DCL photo album onboard. The albums design changes each year with the a new logo as does the towls. DCL also has a standard logo photo album that has been onboard for a few years now.

I can't believe I hadn't thought of a photo album to add to my list! We always get one from WDW with the year on it. Do the DCL albums have the year on the cover?

My favorite souvenir is a poster that was sold during the inagural 7-day Eastern cruise. It hangs at the top of our stairs and I see it every day. It's a great reminder of the fun times that we had on the cruise and a great inspiration to cruise again.

My two favorite things are:
The model (ceramic) ship - I love showing EVERYBODY who comes to the house
&
A current DCL sweatshirt - always a must each cruise!

OK, mine can't be bought but...

My favorite souvenir from our two cruises are the pictures I took each time on Castaway of my two boys in front of the same palm tree with the ship in the background - the scenery is beautiful and seeing how they grew in a year is fun.

I had them framed I loved them so much!

sigh...

My favorite is a sterling silver charm bracelet that DH bought me in Treasure Ketch.. with a mickey head / on it with the DCL insignia engraved on it / and other charms we added.. (the ship, tinkerbell, minnie. ) It always reminds me of all the "magical" times w e have had on our vacations...:earsgirl: :wave2:

Like two4ruff: a picture of the 2 DS standing with Mickey with the ship in the background at Castaway Cay and the other is the landyard that I wear to work everyday to hold my badge...kind of remind me why I am working.... to pay for the next cruise ... which is coming up in 47 days... but I digress.... :)

Thanks for the the pics, MJ!! Hope you don't mind but I looked at all your DCL photos..and now I KNOW I'm biiiig trouble. I want all that stuff, too! I know my little guy will want the plush ship w/ the characters and my big guy will want the resin ship...I want the towels! LOL! I'm going to order the personalized shirts, too. what a great idea!!

On our last cruise I saw the Itineary Maps and I liked them alot! However I did not get one. This time I definitely will! BTW.... can you also get these signed? I think I would frame a signed one and hang it in my room.... P.S. I asked our stateroom Host if I could and he let me take our "Golden Mickeys" Mirror sticker and I have it on my bathroom mirror... I could not go one day w/o it!!;)

Don't mind at all....that's why I post them so Dis'ers can see what some items are onboard!!!

MJ - you take the greatest pictures, but what I wany to know is how many suitcases it took for those shoes:earseek: if you keep that up you'll be needing an additional cabin as a walk-in closet:D

Thanks for the suggestions and the post, I hadn't even thought about ship board souvenirs but I really liked what I saw.

Oh man...I'm allllll about the souvenirs! LOL!! I have a feeling I'll get a bit carried away on this first cruise! ::yes:: Got my list going:

Antenna toppers
photo albums
DCL plush
DCL ship/resin
key chain
t-shirts.....

We bought the soda-pop mugs last time and use them daily for coffee. GREAT reminder of wonderful days on the MAGIC.
I also wear a pin DH bought for me and got home without me even seeing it on the ship. When he gave it to me for Christmas I was floored as I had never seen one like it and I checked ALL the pins.
I bought a key chain a while ago that they might not have any more--Captain Mickey, Mate Minnie and the ship. I took the key loops off and slipped the characters on a neck chain with big beads between them and wear it as a necklace many days a week.

4 souvie questions for ya'll if I may-

1) Pins- How many DCL pins do they have- Is it just basic ship ones or do they have ones for the different restaraunts/shows/spots on the ship? Do they sell other pins except DCL ones? I figure they wouldnt sell WDW or DL ones but Im tryin to plan my pin budget :)

2) About how much is that resin ship model? If its not that much I may have tio justify it... :)

3) Ive noticed talk about having the Captain sign things? Is it specific things? Or will they sign most DCL things? Id much prefer to have something signed that I could scrapbook but would do whats required.

4) Do they sell christmas ornaments in the non-christmas season (ie May)?

Thanks :) -em

I have the ship model (12/27/03) and I think I paid either $20 or $28 for it.

It is very nice and well worth the price.

Looks great on my office shelf and I constantly point out our porthole to bored (read jealous) others.

I just got off the Wonder last week and was looking for an antenna topper for my van. Didn't find one. Anyone know if they still have them and I just missed it in the shop?

They had the Captain Mickey attenae toppers on the magic on the 2/7 cruise....I saw them on the Wonder this past September as well....they were placed down low on a shelf so maybe you just missed them.

Alice Sr....ahhhh....the shoe saga. I had to take that photo because that was the amount of shoes that 4 teen girls took with them on the 7 day cruise. They all shared a cabin and I think they had over 50 pair between them.....it was my 2 DD's who had a separate shoe bag and our friends's two DD's who also had a separate shoe bag!!!

The room steward could not believe that all the shoes were theirs....he thought they were keeping all the shoes from the 16 of us in their room!!!!

Disneyland_Emily....they sell Christmas oraments year round...I just picked up two that were on special on the 2/7 cruise. The Captain signing will be announced in the Navigator and he will just about anything!!!! He definately signs the itinerary maps because I bought one and had him sign it!! It is usually held on the last sea day at Treasure Ketch in the afternoon. There usually is quite a line so get there early!!

Also, whoever was asking about the pins....THEY HAVE A TON OF DCL PINS from the different restaurants, clubs, characters, ships, etc....tons and tons of pins. It is so mind boggling tht I cannot even look at them anymore. It is just too overwhelming. They also have pin trading everynight in the Atrium.

My budget soo didnt want to hear that one! :D
