Favorite Christmas CD

Well, I'm sure no one's heard of it, it just came out this year, but it's already my favorite.

It's called "A Bright Eyes Christmas Album." Bright Eyes is my favorite artist. The main singer/songwriter/musician in the group (really the only main member) is a 22-year-old virtuoso named Conor Oberst. Anyway, he and a bunch of musicians from other groups on his record label, Saddle Creek, put together a christmas album this year to benefit the Nebraska AIDS Project. It's really quite stellar. They cover:

Away in a Manger
Blue Christmas
Oh Little Town of Bethlehem
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
The First Noel
Little Drummer Boy
White Christmas
Silent Night
Silver Bells
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Really quite beautiful. But, again... I'm sure no one here's heard of it. But I love it!

My favorite is called "A Jazzy Wonderland" with various jazz artists.

DH and kids hate it though - it takes traditional Christmas music and puts a jazz twist on them - and they like Christmas carols they can sing to, I guess. So I listen to it in my car, mostly.

These two are getting a lot of play in our home:

The Manhattan Transfer Christmas Album. A lot of up-beat, jazzy renditions, some gorgeous arrangements, an appearance by Tony Bennett and the closing song is Lennon and McCartney's Goodnight. An awesome CD.

The other is the GRP Christmas Collection, Vol. II. GRP artists jazz up the holidays. There is a version of Let There Be Peace On Earth by Voyceboxing that is just knock-out gorgeous.

is Start Bright from Vanessa Williams. I also like Charlie Brown

I really like the Point of Grace Christmas CD but right now my favorite is the WOW Christmas CDs (particulary CD #2).

Mannheim Steamrollers
Kenny G - Miracles
Hey Santa - Wendy and Carney Wilson

Trans-Siberian, easily! I also love their Christmas Eve and Other Stories best, but I really like their Christmas Attic as well.

Unfortunately, we've lost my CDs in our move. :( I can find one case, but can't find either of the CDs. :( We know they're in the house somewhere, but can't find them. :( My parents took pity on me and made me a copy of Christmas Eve, which is the only one they have. I'm about ready to go *buy* another copy of the Christmas Attic since I can't find ours.

What you want to bet that just after Christmas, we find my CDs?

Come to think of it, I can't find our *other* Christmas favorites, either -- we have 3 of the Mannheim Steamroller ones, too.

Another Mannheim Steamroller fan here -- that, and the Harry Connick Jr. Christmas Album. :)

Even though I do not have a drop of Irish in me I love Celtic Christmas, but I think my all time favorite is A Tenors Christmas, with Domingo, Pavarotti and Carreras. I could listen to these 2 CD all day long.

Anything by Kenny G's for me

Also, Has anyone heard "O Holy Night" by Josh Grogan??
Boy can that boy sing !!!

msdznyduck:D

If I could keep only one Christmas CD it would one of Johnny Mathis'. It wouldn't be Christmas time w/o hearing his voice.

I also like "Sing Along With Mitch" (Miller). :) Mom always played a lot of Christmas music. :)
