Favorite Cake

Although chocolate anything usually gets my vote, I love a certain moist, sticky, nutty Orange cake that I make. The recipe is very similar to the one in the "Cake Doctor's" book, but I really like my recipe, it's too simple, and everyone raves about it...


I wish I had some right now..

I like red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. It's kind of like chocolate, but not as rich. I think that it is a PA Dutch invention. I buy them at the Farmers Market.

Oh, I LOVE cake! I have such a weekness for it!

Not store bought birthday cakes though, which is good because I have no problem turning those down. You know the ones from the grocery store? Far to sweet for me.

Give me a good old box mix any day!

I really don't like cake, but I do enjoy Jello Cake. You take a white cake, bake it, poke holes in it with a tooth pick, then pour your favorite flavor of Jello over it. Let it chill, then top with Cool Whip. Very refreshing!!

Devil's food cake with vanilla frosting

At restaurants:
(and my hands down favorite) chocolate mousse cake

From a bakery:
Even though I don't like vanilla cake made at home, I LOVE bakery yellow cake with buttercream frosting(hate whipped cream frosting) with lemon filling.
I also like it with chocolate mousse or chocolate pudding filling.

I have 2 favorites.

This one I have tried to recreate but it always fails. It sounds simple though. Chocolate cake with chocolate pudding on top and dab of whipped cream. We used to get this at a resturant in Michigan.

My other favorite is Better Then S....well I don't know if I can say that hear but it is a simple cake. Chocolate cake, poke holes in it when it is cool, then drizzle carmel (the kind for ice cream) over it and let it soak into the holes, then topped with whipped cream and then smash up Heath candy bars and use on the top. Very yummy.

Anyone else know of and like the chocolate cake I've seen under several different names-Depression cake, Wacky cake, Crazy Cake, even Idiot Cake! It's a chocolate cake with no eggs, butter, or milk, just vinegar and oil. It's my favorite, with confectioners sugar frosting.
