We are considering renting points & staying at the Boardwalk Villas for a few days at the end of our next trip - just wondering what everyone's favorite restaurants are in this area? :)

Spoodles looks good for breakfast...
Big River Grill looks good for lunch...
ESPN looks like a good lunch/snack...

& I know that the Boardwalk Bakery is always tasty -

So, what places are must-do's if we're staying in this area?? TIA! :teeth:

All of the Boardwalk restaurants are great with the exception of Big River. We have given it a chance on three occasions and it never impressed us. The service is so so, but I can live with that if the food is good but the food isn't that good. Good Luck!

ESPN is on of my favorites. Great chicken wings and burgers. Sports on TV is also nice. :woohoo:

I really like the Flying Fish. If you don't like seafood, there is a steak on the menu that is reported to be excellent.

Are you on the dining plan? If so, make sure you're HUNGRY before going to ESPN. The portions were huge. But, the food was really good.

Have fun!

Big River Grille is good, but it can be loud. I didn't care much for Spoodles myself.

Another vote for ESPN Club. For some reason, I love their Grilled Chicken Sandwich!

The good thing about staying on the BW is that there are so many dining choices just within walking distance.

There are the ones you mentioned already (all of which are good), as well as the ones at the other hotels (Y&BC, S&D), and even Epcot.

You can't miss Beaches and Cream for lunch one day either. It's just a short walk around to the BC.

On many nights we have had a great dinner at one of the restaurants in Epcot, watched illuminations, and then walked back to the ESPN club and had a few drinks and desert there.

Another vote for ESPN!

We used to love the Boardwalk Bakery but I've heard that they've made some changes since the last time I was there so I'll have to reserve judgement until we get back to WDW in October.

We tried Big River Grille once for dinner a few years ago and it was pretty good - loved the beer sampler that they offer.

Beaches and Cream is across the lake at the Beach Club- yummy!!

Spoodles and though I hate sports I love the food at ESPN so I just have to put up with the sport  :rotfl2:

We like Beaches and Cream for ice cream.
If you want a causal lunch, Tubbi's over at the Dolphin is a cafeteria (open 24 hours a day) and they have a variety of fast food type stuff.

Beaches and Cream for ice cream and burgers; Spoodles for breakfast and dinner; and ESPN for great sandwiches and appetizers.

Spoodles for breakfast was one of our highlights of our last trip

Poached Eggs - two poached eggs on top of rye toast rounds with Italian sausage, tomatoes, peppers, onions, parmesan cheese, and diced potatoes $9.59

YUM!

And the bloody marys were good too!

I like ESPN and seashore sweets for ice cream :cloud9: we would walk to epcot for a lot of meals too.

When staying at the BW you have a lot of choices.Good luck and have a great vacation.

A guide to my favorite Boardwalk restaurants:

Breakfast:
I love the Boardwalk Bakery, great fresh baked goods and a nice table to watch the Boardwalk wake up every morning. (if it's raining then serve the same pastry in the Boardwalk Inn's lounge.

Spoodles: I was just there and was not impressed. I had the poached eggs with the sausage etc. It was tasty but missing something. I felt like it should have had a side of toast, the other guys that I was with felt the same.

Lunch:
ESPN is great for lunch, good food, hugh portions, a nice place to spend some time. It's also great for a casual dinner and watching a game.

Dinner is where the Boardwalk shines.

Flying Fish:
Excellent restaurant. The food and service is top notch. You will never have a bad experience here.

Yachtsman Steak House:
Another excellent choice, this is on my must do list for each visit. Everyone in my party has always enjoyed themselves.

Palio in the Swan:
Once again a excellent choice. This is an Italian restaurant in the Swan. It is excellent and I have never seen a crowd there. You can't use a Disney charge here; cash or credit card only. They do give a 20% discount to DVC members (the advertise this only for food but on all of my visits it has always come off food and drinks).

Blue Zoo:
Todd English's restaurant at the Dolphin, excellent food and service but no discounts. Being from Boston I have plenty of Todd's restaurants available so I find this one to be skippable.

Shula's Steak House:
at the Dolphin. Very good, but I prefer the Yachtsman at the Yacht and Beach club.

I'm not a fan of Beaches and Cream. They have good ice cream but I prefer a quieter atmosphere for lunch. If you do take out for the pool it's good.

The Big River Grill is ok. I had a good (not great) burger there last week and the cheese soup was very good but for the price, quality, quanity and ability to get discounts I would always choose ESPN.

Enjoy yourself.

Thanks for all the restaurant advice - looks like Big River Grille may not make the cut this trip. We already had a couple of BC restaurants on our list - here's what we're looking at doing on our upcoming trip:

Beaches & Cream, lunch
Cape May Cafe, breakfast & dinner
Spoodles, breakfast
Boardwalk Bakery, breakfast & yummy snacks :teeth:

We're also looking forward to a couple afternoons/evenings of snacks/meals at our 1st Food & Wine Festival! Thanks again! :)

I had asked this question last week but didn't get many responses. This will help my planning as well. Thanks everyone, and thanks arizonacolbys for asking about the Boardwalk restaurants again! LOL!
