Guacamole with chips. It's pretty easy to make, although I buy the chips. I use:

Avocados (Hass is ideal)
Onions (red looks best)
Tomatoes - just the fleshy parts diced
Lime or lemon juice
Black pepper
Sea salt

I don't add chili peppers, but some like it a bit spicy.
I add jalapeños and cilantro, let the onions and salt sit a bit in the lime juice.

I love the block of velveeta cheese, and the rotel. I am going to add a small can of green chilies with it and some chips yummy.

We loved stuffed dates. Take dates and put cream cheese in middle and a pecan on top. Great to just grab one and stuff it in your mouth. We also like rumaki which is chicken livers wrapped in bacon. You can add any kind of nuts if you wish, lots of people use water chessnuts but we just do the bacon wrapped liver. We always do a cheese board with at least a hard cheese, usually gouda and a soft cheese, usually a goat cheese of some sort and then just what ever gourmet chesses I happen to find. pita bread and hummus. assortment of olives and pickles.

Simple, just add crackers! A block of cream cheese (room temperature) with Raspberry Chipotle sauce poured over the top! Yum!

We also add lots of the standbys that have already been mentioned.
This is my go to app when I have to come up with one in a hurry. :)

We do a very simple one

cocktail Rye bread toasted with sausage and velevetta cheese melted together,

Little mushroom turnovers
The meatballs with the grape jelly and chilli sauce
Breaded fried butterfly shrimp
Mini carmalized onion and goat cheese tarts
Spanakopita
Guacamole Deviled Eggs ~ a mashup of two yummy things.
Little tiny hot dogs my step mom wraps with puff pastry. Don't ask me why, but hers are the only ones I like and can eat. Not sure which little hot dogs she uses but they are good.

Marinated cheddar and cream cheese, and olives and crackers or a thin crunchy bread with it. I didn't follow this exact recipe, but I did something like this, it was so good, everyone could not stop eating it, and it was completely gone by the end of the party.

Trader Joe's Camembert & Raspberry Puffs
Pork Dumplings
Tortilla chips, fresh queso, & fresh guacamole
Deviled eggs

I bought a big styrofoam thing at Joanne's craft store, covered it in plastic wrap so food wouldn't get bits of styrofoam on it. Bought a bunch of cheese and meats and stuck them in. Took time but was easy to do-my girls did a lot of it. It was so impressive! I will not put beets or mushrooms on it this year. Too messy. I may add pepperoncinis and anything else I can find. Any ideas?

My kids love chili cheese dip.
8oz. Cream cheese
1 can chili
Shredded cheddar
Tortilla chips
Spread the cream cheese in a small casserole dish, pour chili over, cover with cheese. Microwave until cheese is melted and cream cheese is warm.

We just went to a holiday party last night and the hit appetizer IMO were these bacon-wrapped sweet potatoes. I don't know who came up with the idea of putting those two flavours together, but they were amazing. The host had premade a whole bunch of them and refrigerated them, so they just kept pulling them out of the fridge as needed and baking a new batch. I found this recipe online http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/bacon-wrapped-sweet-potato-bites. I am pretty sure the ones we had last night were just sweet potatoes wrapped in bacon, held together with a toothpick, but the recipe shows tossing them with some seasonings first. I plan on making them for one of our Christmas appetizers this year if we end up having enough people to warrant it.

I've had these and they are awesome. The ones I had weren't sweet potatoes, just tiny potatoes but I'm guessing sweet would be a great contrast to the bacon.

I was thinking of making either bacon wrapped brussel sprouts or bacon wrapped chicken livers (rumaki).

i was reading the Christmas menu thread and it got me thinking. For Christmas Eve in my family we just do appetizers and dessert. We love it! The old standbys for savory are BBQ meatballs, Brie bites (mini phyllo cups, Brie, and pepper jelly) spinach artichoke dip, Greek dip (tomatoes, green onions, feta, Greek seasoning), mini hot pretzel bites with cheddar beer dip, shrimp cocktail and Stromboli.

I'm wondering if anyone has anything new or exciting or just different that your family loves?

If you wouldn't mind sharing, I'd really like the recipe for the Brie bites - they sound awesome!
