Favorite Airport

Atlanta!!

Are you serious? Hate the ATL airport. I've really started trying to avoid it and take Delta through Cincinnati instead. If you're flying Delta from BHM, you've gotta go through one or the other. If you fly through ATL Fri-Sat, you can bet you will be delayed... and most oftentimes it's a significant delay.

Only saving grace for ATL is the Bare Essentials store in T terminal. :)

JMHO

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ. Think about our options down here. We can do Newark, NJ (it's so reassuring to park your car in an economy lot protected from the ghetto by three layers of swaying barbed wire), Laguardia (the traffic is mind-numbing), Kennedy (the traffic is similarly mind-numbing, plus, the airport feels like it was pieced together using drywall and a prayer), or Philadelphia (not even an option. The last time I was there was November, and the security line to get through the metal detectors was almost 4.5 hours long at 8 AM.)

Atlantic City has amazingly convenient parking, 8 gates, 2 baggage claims, a 5-minute security line and infrequent delays. Plus, we can go to the Borgata beforehand and play poker in the smoke-free room. We heart Atlantic City. I take it whenever I possibly can.

I like Orlando...it always means I'm close to WDW! :)

But I also like smaller airports like Evansville, IN and Ontario, California.

Cheers,
JJ

Out of the airports I've been too...

In/Out - San Diego, ATL, MCO, Orly and CharlesDeGaulle (Paris), and Melbourne(FL)

Passing thru - Dallas/Ft Worth, San Antonio, ATL, and Nashville.

I'm going to count out Melbourne, cuz thats the smallest airport on the list so it doesn't count! There is quite litterally no one there except for maybe 2.5 flights worth of people at a time.

San Diego is a good airport for a big city. Its small and quick...good for getting in and out fast! Also, very little wait getting to the gate from the runway and vice versa. Quick walk from the gates to the baggage claim as well!

ATL, is my choice for layover if I have to ... Lots of food choices! I used to know where the chik-fil-a's were, haha.

Worst I've ever left out of was ATL, I had to take the train in, and if I had known that mondays were so bad..... ugh! missed my flight, which freaked me out. luckily I was flying into Melbourne, so there were plenty of open seats! I got on the next flight. I Don't know that I would have been so lucky if flying into MCO that day. ATL -> MCO is jammed pack full of Disney goers :teeth:

I don't fly a ton, but I've had good experiences in Charlotte. Atlanta's International Terminal is nice. Overseas, I like London's Gatwick, but just the thought of Charles de Gaulle brings about an involuntary shudder.

My favorate is our local airport YFC only one gate and only 2 airlines realy simple . not using it this time too expensive . Worst LaGuardia

My vote goes to Copenhagen's Kastrup Airport. The airport lounge is great, along with the shopping.

KOA-Keahole-Kona International Airport on the Big Island of Hawaii. With the exception of the restaurant, everything is open-air, unlike other Hawaiian airports that have only partially open spaces. You board and deplane via stairs, not jetways. Plus, it's right on the ocean.

I found some pics; click on the links if you want to see:

Runners-up: Heathrow (because I'm going to London when I get there!) and of course MCO. :)

Gotta be TF Green in Providence.

Beats Boston's Logan by millions of times. Logan is practically inaccessible and Green is like 15 minutes from my house.

Favorites are Amsterdam - if you have to stuck with an 8 hour delay with 4 very tired kids, this is the place to be! McDonalds to fill there stomachs, and a large playground for them to blow off steam and slot machines for Mom and Dad to let off steam!

St. Maarten is also up there - nothing beats checking in and then getting to walk back outside and sit in the Caribbean heat.

I try to avoid if possible:
O'Hare - too many delays, too many people
ATL - hard to avoid though, but you can certainly count on it for a delay
Miami - too large, too many people
LAX - don't like the rental car situation there. You have to shuttle to your rental.
Philadelphia - ick, nothing about it I like at all

I've liked:

Savannah
Nashville
Dallas
Memphis
Vegas
John Wayne in Orange County - easy airport and whoo hoo - great takeoffs!
Orlando - of course :)
Tampa - very easy to navigate
Tallahassee - very, very easy airport
Midway -Chicago - although it takes forever for baggage to be unloaded and delivered and at least its not Ohare.

Definetly NOT Filthadelphia :rotfl2:

MCO all the way!! b/c it means Disney is near :teeth:

The Northwest Terminal at Detroit Metro. Awesome place to hang out while waiting for a plane! :)

MCO. I also like Bradley(BDL) in Hartford CT, because it is smallish, easy to get to, nowhere near the amount of confusion as at the NYC airports.

We live about 1/2way between Bradley and the NYC airports, and if the cost isn't too different, I'll go with Bradley every time. Paying a little extra is worth it to me to not have to deal with the NYC airports whenever possible.

I really like the one in Columbia, SC. Clean, small, easy to navigate and they don't take me to the cleaners to park and pick people up. It's also kind of fun to see the kids arriving for basic training and Fort Jackson. The drill sergeants herd them up and start their uh...training them right there in the airport. I guess I can see the humor in that since I have been there, done that.

My worst experiences have been thru DFW. That airport has hurt my feelings many times by making me sleep there or making me wait excessive amounts of time every time I have ever been there. I try not to fly to or thru that one if possible.

I have flown into and out of John Wayne Airport (Orange County) and never had a problem.

Another vote for McNamara Terminal out of Detroit!!! Lots to see and do, plus I love to walk the underground "ice tunnel" while I wait.

Worse is the SMITH terminal out of Detroit. It's just nasty!!!!

I also like BNA and agree with the gorgeous take offs out of John Wayne!

I think this topic is better done the opposite way, here are the airports I hate:
O'Hare (most delayed in the nation)
Houston (I am always delayed here for some reason)
Denver
Oakland (better than SFO at least)
San Francisco (catch one of the 3 days of the year without a fog delay)
Phoenix (the airport is alright, getting out of it sucks)
Orlando (seems a bit slow to me, plus I got delayed)

Only airport I like
SNA (Orange County) its better because of all the idiots who think that flying into LAX to get to Disney is faster, fools. So that makes it that much easier to get where you need to go.

I DESPISE Atlanta. WAY too big, and too hard to get to and from rental cars.

Orlando is big, too, but at least it's on the way to places I want to go. Same with Denver.

I really prefer smaller airports where you don't have to take shuttles to get to the terminals. BWI is usually pretty easy to deal with.
