Fat Friendly?

Yeah, I meant 6 feet. my weight is mostly in my stomach and thighs but I'm not sure I'll chance it if I have to squeeze in. I still have almost 7 months before we go, and I'm hopeful that I'll lose a decent amount of weight, not so much to ride this ride but so I'm comfortable walking all the parks and not be so sore at the end of the day.

When are you going? If before me, can you keep me posted on how DH did?
Thank you! :)

Oh to be that tall. One of my college friends is that tall and I was always so jealous. Especially since her height and build meant she was actually bony when she weighed 190. Dad and his second family are all up there in height and it was always embarrassing to ask a teen brother to get the cereal down lol. I'm 5'3" and the brothers are in the 6'3" range so you can see the issue when I visited their house, lol.

DH won't be 300 by the time of our upcoming trip but if everything comes together for him now that he's doing cardio, strength training, and yoga (along with his modified diet through WW) maybe he will be by our January trip! We will be shouting it from the rooftops when he can ride a thrill ride at universal so as long as you are here then you will see it. :)

I know firsthand now that dropping extra pounds makes themeparks so much easier, so I wish you all the success in the world! It was a universal trip where my feet felt like they were being hit by hammers the whole time that I realized I had to do something. Also I wore through my fave khakis on that trip because of legs rubbing. Embarrassing. So glad it happened at the hotel and not the parks though. Came home feb 2012 and joined WW a few days later and the rest is in my signature. Hit goal two weeks ago. If I can lose, others can too. :).

Even last year this time, after losing maybe 45, our Disneyland trip felt much different to me in terms of pain and stamina. Dh was at 25 maybe 30 down for that trip and he agreed. Every bit helps!

Simpson's, Transformers and Spiderman all have 4-person seats that use one lap bar, try to sit with similar sized people. Just rode Simpson's in the front row and noticed the back support only went up to the shoulder blades, it was very uncomfortable for me with all the jostling. The back row has "back" support all the way up to your head.

Thank you! There are several of us going that are bigger, so we can all sit together and let my sister and sister in law sit with the kids. That would probably make sense.

Need to remember that about the back row, too! Thank you!! :)

Good for you both, and congratulations on hitting your goal!! That's the best feeling! I had done it about 7 years ago, lost 100 pounds and then threw my back out. That was the end of the beginning and gained it all back. That was the last time I was at WDW and US/IOA and had no issues riding anything. I was 6' and 210, but like your college friend, I was thin, but not boney.

I've started and stopped WW so many times, I've decided to try just counting calories. and I've lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks, so I'm pretty much on goal.

I didn't realize how bad it was until I was at Disneyland last month. Two full days, back and forth between DL and DCA, from 9 - closing just about did me in. Thankfully the rest of the week was lazy and gave me time to recover. It was a real eye opener and made me realize that I needed to do something. I want to enjoy going on rides with my family, and not being embarrassed being in a big family photo. I would LOVE to be able to ride FJ but that's not the only reason I'm doing this.

Thank you for the encouragement! It is good to know we're not alone!

Thanks everyone for their messages! There were some rides I couldn't go:

Forbidden Journey: real bummed out
Rip Ride Rocket: Bummed again

The close call:
The Hulk. Someone had to really push with all their might and I was in the large peeps section

The almost close call:
Dragon Challenge. It was just comfy.

I am now a little worried! We leave tomorrow and it is our first time to Universal. We are Disney people where I have never really had a problem being larger so this didn't even really occur to me. I am about the same weight as you (280 right now) but I carry almost all of mine in the my butt/hips/thighs. Looking at pictures of the FJ seats it looks like an overhead restraint. Did you not fit because of the seat or the restraint? I am thinking that if I can squish my rear in the seat that I can probably lower it since I have narrow shoulders and not a huge chest. Any advice would be appreciated!

I think you might be ok if you don't carry the weight on top. My DH can't fit into the seats at FJ, but he is very tall with a large chest, so the restraint will not fit over him. If I remember correctly, the restraint actually comes over your head and buckles into the seat in between your legs-so if you carry most of your weight on top-the seat has a harder time connecting between your legs because they can't pull the top down all the way. I carry most of my weight in my stomach/waist area (not much on top) so I didn't have any problems.

Yep. And if you carry weight on top AND bottom it can be hard in both ways.
