Hi,

I just watched the DIS unplugged for the Aug 6th episode. I heard one of the host was able to put the IllumiNations as one of the 3 selections for his fastpass+. I was trying to do that for Epcot but I can't see the option anywhere on My Disney Experience. They only allow me to add it in the "my plans' section with a footnote "it is not a reservation". I was wondering if they took that option out? Could it be that it is only for the US citizens? The reason I said that because I cannot active the My Disney Experience from the Canadian website. I have to activate the fast pass with the app and it didn't show any of the shows or parades except the rides.

Does anyone here know where I can select those shows on the app?

I'm not exactly sure if Canada and us citizens have differences but as of right now if you are included in the my magic plus test you are able to book fastpasses to shows and parades. The shows and parades aspect is new to the test and you should be able to do it. Have you tried doing it on different days? Maybe its not available for the day you want or try a different park like MK and see if you can get a show or a parade available.

I did some research, and I think that the shows and parades are in a testing phase and will show up sporadically on My Disney Experience.

I would continue to check back to see if Disney decides to test them out on the days you're looking for. :)

Thank you WebmasterShaun and rteetz.

I didn't know I was part of the test til later on. I am resort hopping and choice to stay the shortest at PC. So I can only try the band for 2 days (might be one because I leave the next day). However, I'll take both of you advice and look out for the shows and parade. If I am not able to get in then is no big deal.

You both are a lot of help! Thanks again!

As Shaun said, the nighttime spectaculars (and parades too, maybe?) are only available on certain days during this test. I think it has something to do with days of the week, not sure though.

Also, MDX should be available for Canadians now.

I'd be very interested if burning a Fastpass+ on a parade is worth it. Seems like a waste to me unless you could show up at the last minute and have a front row spot. If someone knows exactly how this works, please pray tell.

We haven't had the option to book Illuminations. I keep checking because I'm also checking to see if they open up an EMH option. That's when we had planned on spending the most time at Epcot and DHS. But, so far, it's only during normal hours. We are excited to give them a try though. :)

For the August test there are only FP+ options for Wishes, MSEP, F! and Illuminations on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. I think they were popular, I'm having a hard time getting them too.

I'm quite curious as to how fp+ for the parades/nighttime shows would work. Will it be preferential viewing areas...? :confused3

I have heard a very good explanation concerning all of NextGen, which includes MagicBands, Fastpass Plus, My Disney Experience, RFID tickets and everything related.

The description is from a friend who is a very high-level Technical Specialist in Disney's IT department: "This is a railroad claimed to be in full operation while they are still building the locomotive".

Everything is in testing and development. There is nobody who can give any accurate answer about any of these, or their interactions.

Everything is still subject to change on a daily basis.

And nobody has any idea when when everything will work. My personal opinion, also, is that Bob Iger's public statements are prepared by the PR department and not by knowledgeable people.

we were picked for the test (we leave tonight, get there tomorrow)..
because i bought UK tickets, i was worried about linking them to the system so i called disney IT (the phone number that was sent with the test email)..

at disney IT she told me emphatically NOT to link the UK tickets as there's no way to know what the system will do with them...
this is because i have two separate packages from disney USA - i bought ticketless dining packages from disney USA for two different arrivals (with a cruise in the middle)..

we will use the same UK ticket for both packages...

when she heard that she said the system would certainly glitch if i tried linking it....she said just pass up the test and do fastpasses the old fashioned way..

so i followed her advice and didn't link our tickets...
(i have an AP, but the rest of the family has the UK tickets)..

as a result, i've received at least 8 emails telling me i've been selected and why don't i head on over to my disney experience and link up...

but disney IT said no, so i won't...

I don't recall Disney every stating or giving the impression that the new system is in "full operation." In fact, there hasn't even been a release date as to when it will officially go live for all guests. Testing is still underway and will be until they get it right; doing so otherwise could be detrimental to this million dollar endeavor. Granted I foresee a few kinks along the way, but I don't believe a system of this magnitude will be put out unless it is operational.

I have a friend works at Disney IT too. I wonder if it's the same person? :goodvibes

Something tells me that the scenario of, "split stay, UK tickets, US dining, and one member of party on an AP" was not on the list of test cases before this test :rotfl:

That's the thing that actually blows me away... that Disney's systems work remotely as well as they do because some of the things that people do (especially on the DIS), I don't think it could possibly be planned for!

Hi from WDW!!
we are here and wearing our new magic bands!
They're very comfortable and a great convenience for opening the door to the room . However they are not everywhere yet so you still have to carry your room key with you.

They told us that three resorts were picked for the test - pop century, yacht club and jambo house of animal kingdom.
At pop, the test is a bit of a bust so far - Check in was a nightmare and took much much much much much longer than usual
And there are long lines there at all hours of the day and night
Check in takes much longer than usual.
People are pretty frustrated.
The check in CM also failed to mention to us that we need to carry our KTTW just in case, but I did anyway after reading it here on the board.
The very first restaurant we ate in couldn't handle the bands so it was lucky we had our KTTW with us with our dining plan credits on it !!!

But it is very very comfy to wear and the colors are really pretty
And again it is very very convenient for opening the room door and for making purchases!

We were picked also- we arrive this Monday and are staying at pop there are 10 of us and none of us were offered to pick a parade or show. We picked all the popular ones, toy story, belle etc.. We ll see if that changes as I try everyday

Thanks so much for the information. We will be arriving at POP on Saturday. We have our bands and have mad our FP+ reservations.

When you checked in, what took so long? Was it just explaining everything, or were things just not working? Had you done online check in? I understand that there is a separate IT desk-do guests all have to visit it, or just those with problems with the bands? Or is that everyone? LOL

Sorry for all the questions- just trying to get a picture of what to expect.

Check in lines were much improved yesterday so maybe as the test progresses they get more of an idea how to handle it

Just remember to take your KTTW with you just in case - sci fi couldn't handle the bands yet

They're very comfortable
I sleep with mine on

I love being able to run to the food court with my mug and not have to remember my key

FP+ has made standby worse on the rides where FP has been added

Glad you are enjoying your trip!
